I did have something similar happen a few years back minus the blackmail threat bit. Did not hang around to meet the heavy (likely armed) they were calling let me tell you! Guess the desperation levels have escalated substantially since then...

fuck that, if someone threatens me, I'll tell them I will come back with more people and cause more problems for them...

I've always been weary about going into some strange apartments anyway.

I agree, even if I didn't come back with more people I'd come back armed and at night.

This is why sticking to reputable places is the best option and will not expose you to any problems down the track.
