High end across Asia is almost always ktv. There the girls earn the most with the least effort so it attracts the cream. However sounds like you're flying solo so prob not an option.

yes variety is bad but at 160/300 what we get is comparable and fair given cost of living.

Not really true anymore after the price increases in Sydney. For example, you can get what they call a "2 girl relay" at anmas, which is 30-40 mins with each girl straight after each other (length of time depends on the place) for 260-280k Won, which is about AUD$300-$350. Most anmas also have set girls who do a full lesbian threesome and that costs about 400-450k won, which is about AUD $500-$550. Or you can get a quickie with a good looking girl at the RLD for about 100k won. So hardly what you describe as being costly.

The key to all this, however, is that you need to look Korean AND speak Korean. I'm not Korean, but could pass for a Korean and speak Korean passably, so don't have issues getting into places. If you're non East Asian/don't speak Korean, you probably only have the option of the escorts who charge a significant mark up.
