Lately, it's been a bit difficult for me to fall a sleep. So, what do you do when that happens to you? Do you think about punting the next day to help you sleep? haha

look up "brown noise" or "green noise" on youtube. essentially it is quiet sounds you play that keep your brain from thinking too much as u try and sleep. it did work for me.

Think about a very long lineup of Milfs in a massage parlour.

I usually fall asleep after counting the 30 or 40 women......

Exercise.

No caffeine after 2pm.

Spending a little time after shower just to declutter the brain. Usually find something funny on YouTube helps, a good laugh is always good medicine.

When going to sleep, don't over analyse, don't pre-empt the insomnia by wondering if it will happen again, just go to sleep. If need be, a little soft noise in the background to distract your mind.

Close your eyes and imagine a boring game of tennis...

If all that fails, melatonin.

And yes, sometimes a good wank before bed will do the trick. So if you think about punting, that's probably going to exacerbate the problem if you don't release.

Try showering at night - unhurriedly, before bed rather than in the morning. Sometimes works - not always.

This normally occurs when you are thinking too much, so you need to clear your mind of any issues before you go to bed
Also you need to learn how to leave all outside issues outside the house and not bring them home with you,

Most of the time it is due to some underlying cause so you have to address it. Any thing which is stressing you, any activity which you stopped doing suddenly etc etc. It doesn't happens in one day, it builds up over time and you have to go back to that point and analyse the situation.
Few years ago I suffered from this and it turned out that from being foodie for all my life, I went to extreme keto and loosing 15 kg in 4 months time so I was advised to include some of my fav food back in diet and gradually remove those.
Worked for me, took 2-3 weeks to see the improvement.
Melatonin can help temporarily, get it prescribed from your GP.
Cheers!

That's very interesting. It did feel like it was building up gradually and I'm getting less sleep everyday. Thanks.

There is the 10-3-2-1 sleep rule. The catchy phrase is to help remember

10 hours before bed no more caffeine
3 hours before no more food
2 hours before bed no more work
1 hour before no more screen time

It takes immense discipline to do above but the say that if you persevere for at least 21 days the system will become a burnt in habit.

PS not eating 3 hours before bed is good for the gut too, I mean to keep trim.

I would also say no alcohol 3 hours before bed too

It is very tempting to wank in bed. I have such a repertoire of fantasies I can lose an hour or more. I find the orgasm rush can be stimulating and delay sleep even further.

I like the idea of saving up my orgasm for my next root like some mbers do here. Takes samurai discipline for me to bottle it up even for a few days.

If i have trouble sleeping i:

1. Amp up the intensity at the gym
2. drink a bit of warm milk before i go onto the bed
3. Pop a melatonin pill
4. No movies or porn 5 hours before
5. Read something very boring - eg wikipedia page of a topic you dont care about

I have been drinking a lot of coffee, maybe that is why too.

No screen time is hard for me. I'm on youtube all the time haha.

I like the gym idea. but since I'm so sleep deprived, I also feel low energy while working out.

I've been prescribed melatonin and only take 1 tablet twice a week when needed on weekends when I can sleep in.

Plus this powder works well at night.102326

Exercise.
Take a vitamin D supplement during the day or get some sun exposure (melatonin production).
Magnesium (nuts/seeds, wheat).
Hot bath/shower before bed.
Blue light filter.
Get enough fiber in your diet (particularly water-soluble fibre) for better gut microbiome and melatonin production.
Meditation/de-stress/breathing exercises.

My man... One of the greatest trance / dance anthems out there. I still get goosebumps when that techno riff starts playing. Love that tune.

This song and Silence by Delerium (Tiesto mix), incredible choons, bro!

Just read up on the basics of meditation. When you cant sleep just practice it while lying there. You wont remember falling asleep. Totally works. I have a double shot espresso evety night around 8.30 or 9. So everyone is different. The exercise advice is good and also helps. But once you are awake and wired you need a technique.

Wake up same time every morning. Early morning sunlight. Ideally exercise in sunlight (not too late in day), bedtime ritual, no screen time 2 h before bed, only go to bed when you’re sleepy, no watching TV in bed, don’t use phone when in bed, no caffeine or alcohol 4 hours before bed (chocolate contains caffeine), keep your routine. Good luck !

I think caffeine is causing this effect.
Try to move to decaf.
Before sleep stop screen time put mobil in aeroplane mode and far from reach.
Do deep breath in and out you will fall sleep in 5-10 min.

i've been there (currently here now) ... i will generally fall asleep early afternoon on a sunday because i tend to get a lot done during the day (washing cars, mowing the lawn, cleaning the house inside out). for me, its the afternoon nap on sunday that kills me.

i'll do either of the following:

1. go for a walk
2. put on a documentary - this works for me.. documentary can be on anything
3. go to the local knock shop - laugh all you want, but sometimes its that little bit of cardio that will make me tired again
4. probably the best option, coupled with option 1 - meditate. sometimes if i cant sleep, its because i have too much going on and i cant stop thinking about certain things

personally, i stay away from melatonin as i don't want to introduce a synthetic booster into a naturally produced hormone. i've heard that some people that have taken melatonin, now rely on melatonin just to fall asleep

My sleep has been poor as well for years. I keep analysing the past or thinking/ worrying about the future.
I'm going to start some of these strategies tonight.

Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but it doesn't get you anywhere.

But I get it, every so often I sit bolt upright at the thought of getting old and dying. It's a ridiculous fear, I mean I have no fear of what it was like before I was conceived, so why worry about after I die? It's the same thing, I will simply cease to exist..

But still...

Everyone says to avoid coffee in the evening which is 100% correct.
But alcohol in the evening or a big meal in the evening are just as bad for sleep.
Try to avoid if you can.
Eat at least 5 hours before going to bed or have just a light dinner if you go to bed early.
And avoid alcohol a few hours before going to bed too. Alcohol will temporarily sedate and relax you but later in the night it will keep you awake.

I've been having the same issue. Often I will be trying to sleep the whole night, and by the time I know it it's morning. I'm guessing it's because my life's pretty empty like someone else here said. Well if it was easy to fix then I wouldn't be having sleep issues.

Most of the time the night after a punt I sleep like a log from all the feel good and relaxing chemicals. It may also be partly due to being tired from not sleeping the night before from the excitement of punting the next day lol.

When I go for long hikes (a few hours) I'm usually dead tired but mentally energised having spent time in nature, and I sleep really well that night. I should do this more often instead of punting...

If I'm not falling asleep after a while then I probably know trying harder to sleep won't work. A few times I've gotten up and gone out for a walk, combined with walking meditation. Being mindful of each step and taking in the night atmosphere.

Good luck with it bro.

Watch an action movie while laying on the bed. It needs to be an interesting movie and not boring because you're trying to keep your mind focused and occupied on the movie and not let your mind wander off. I always pass out within 5 minutes

I used to have very bad insomnia for long periods at a time. The damned thing becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. After getting it the first night, I get "scared" of going to bed the next night and getting insomnia again. This fear ends up being what keeps me awake.
The worst thing is when I keep getting up to check the time, seeing the hours pass by and not getting any sleep. Before I know it, it's already dawn!

What I found to be very effective is to mix up my day a bit to break the "spell". Do something that you don't often do, like go watch a movie in the cinema, go for a long walk, drive around aimlessly. Reading something in bed also helps a lot. Get a tablet or just do it on your phone. I tend to read news and Wikipedia, they are very effective. Sometimes I fall asleep holding the device up and it falls right on my face!

Good diet, no sugared drinks ( they're fucking poison ) , no caffeine after 3pm, plenty of water, hot shower before bed, camomile tea & then read a boring book. You'll be in the land of nod in no time.
