Body clipper

Hi boys,

I am looking to purchase a body groomer with the sole intention of using it to groom the genital area. I will probably end up getting laser down the track but for now, looking for a clipper to use in between shaves. I used a Phillips (can’t remember the model) in the past but used to get too many nicks.

Any recommendations?

Philips is good. I have the Manscape Lawnmower 2.0 bought over 3 years ago. There are newer version now bu no need to update mine yet as it can trim really clean, haven't cut myself once either and can go long distances between charges big fan of their products!

I did a consultation for laser for a small patch of hair that I have on my back and I found it to be way too much of a hassle, in terms of after care etc. (And you need 5-6 sessions , repeated every month) At the end the guy himself said you are better not doing it at as there is not much of hair. ,

I don't know much about doing laser down around the genital area but I believe it would be even worse as the skin is more sensitive. This was at a all men's grooming salon I think it was in Belmore. Anyways, maybe Philips would be a better option.

Alternatively - if you can spare $400 or so, DIY lasers such as the Philips Lumea actually don't suck. If you've got dark hair then it might be worth putting it on your list of options to look into.

Their blades are ceramic which means it gets dulled very easily. I would invest in a blade that's at least steel.

I have a Philips Series 7000 multi groom, not cheap, but works well. Their Lumea Ipl is also good, I found that it works well, but hair does grow back eventually. The Braun ipl though doesn't work on me, despite good reviews.

I ended up giving Veet For Men Intimate Areas Hair Removal Kit, a go. I applied the cream to my testis and sat awkwardly for 10 minutes. It worked really well, albeit a little sensitive for a day or so. I would recommend applying the cream and leaving it on for 5 minutes on your first application.

Not recommeded for use on the shaft or anal area.

No. I wasn’t game enough. Although, in my opinion, if you leave the cream on for a few mins in the areas you mentioned and have no reaction, it might work.

I did a bit of reading on the Net around this a while back before I start and most people seemed to find it best to use a good quality razor and shaving cream/gel.

I have been doing this for a few years now but I only shave on my punt days. My tip would be to do this in the shower.

Jump into the shower with lukewarm or cold-ish water and your balls will shrink, you can then gently use the razor to shave but DO NOT press the razor down hard.

For me I use Gillete Fusion ProGlide + King Of Shaves (Sensitive Shave Gel)

I find that if the shaving gel is transparent, I can see what I am doing

I have also used that cream. Johny77 is right, the key point is the amount of time you leave it on. The longer you leave it on, the more likely you will get burnt.

I'd also add, maybe try checking if hair is coming off every minute by rubbing gently with a tissue or cloth. Once you see it is already working, do not leave it on any longer and start removing all of it.

As of late I've doing the dry shave, with the right pull of the skin and a sharp razor. AND ofcourse a steady hand. It's been great, no rash, no post itchiness or in growns. WINN

Yep, good tip. From memory instructions state to leave it on between 5-10 minutes. Perhaps try 5 minutes to begin with.

I just use a good quality disposable shaver - nice shaving cream - old fashioned but effective - do it a couple of days before you punt and avoid any infections.

An update for those who wanted to give hair removal cream a try or found that your skin is red and sensitive post use. I was finding my skin would be red and quite sensitive for the first day or so. I have started applying aloe vera afterwards and that is working well.

The method I am using that works. Give your little mate a good wash with antibacterial type soap. Apply cream, leave for about 7 or so mins (whatever works for you). Jump into the shower and give it a good wash with antibacterial soap to ensure the cream is completely removed from the skin. Dry up and apply aloe vera gel.

Make sure you get the right one. Veet Men hair removal kit for sensitive areas. If you use the regular stuff, it will burn your skin.
