Are there any massage places in Brisbane that are registered with Medicare and do extras like HJ? I would assume not but it’s worth the ask as I can claim back money for massages if they are “legit”.

Heard the one on Adelaide St does. The one upstairs. I haven't tried myself though

I would say that one would have to have private health insurance to claim back on massages I think.

Yes, if you want to claim from Medicare, you have to keep your undies on

By the way, can anyone advise which company offers the best plan for massages as I want to buy only the extra cover?

I assume that you mean private health insurance as I'm not aware of being able to claim a massage on Medicare unless for some reason it was prescribed by your GP? I think I've seen adverts on Locanto for 3 different shops north of Brisbane who have advertised that they are affiliated with the HiCAPS scheme and you can claim on private health insurance. It is rather amazing that they put this in the advert because the insurers would boot them out very quickly if they realised what was happening.

There was a dodgy PRC Boiler doctor in Melbourne a few years back tossing guys off on rebates.

Thank you so much guys for all your answers and advice. I guess I will have to answer my question myself lol.
I am inclining towards medibank which seems to have massage deductions as well as some over the counter prescriptions.

I think you mean private health insurance. IMO, not worth it for this. You are limiting your options far too much if you will only visit places that are registered for insurance. Anyway, you can only claim off the base price of the massage, which is not much. You are better off just focussing on finding the best experience you can rather than spending money on private health insurance for this.

If you do make an insurance claim, does your name come up in the massage shop? And does the massage come up on your health insurance claims statement?

Whatever name the shop is registered with for claims purposes will appear on your health insurance statement. It may be a non-descript name or be the actual shop name. When I visit the chiropractor I think my name does flash up on the terminal screen as they always ask me which “number” I am on the card. And, of course, if they care to look they will see your name if you hand over a physical card and are not using a digiwallet version of your card.

Pretty sure the answer here is yes, they use the Hicaps machine which prints a receipt with the person name on it. So yes their is a record of your visit.

So make sure your wife doesn’t see the statement from “The Pleasure Dome”
'Time' in the CBD on Mary St and 'Experienced Thai Massage' on Edward St offer HICAPS rebates. Time is extra $10 for it though.

Assuming you mean Medibank?
Yes, shops can easily see your name once the HICAPS receipt is printed. You may see the owner's name, which may be a male or a female's name, in your private health insurance's claim history. You won't see the shop's name, just the therapist's name.

I was with one private provider and I got 2 discounted massages out of it so an hour was about 25.
I have recently changed so will get a massage and see if it can be pushed to 3.
Maybe have a bit of cash showing after I have paid.
I would never push the envelope but you never know
I did a few years back have an awesome experience on a Very hot new years day in Castle hill NSW with an awesome massage girl who was very horny and wanted me to stay for something extra

With private provider I meant private healthcare....sorry about that. But I am going to look for a HICAPS place around the Springfield/Ipswich/west area for a massage today or early next week as I did some yard work and really need one lol

So was that two sessions for a whole month or a whole year? Curious to know

Yeh it was 2 sessions total. So the massage was 60/hour but ended up being 22 I think from memory. I think the allowance was 100/150 a year but remedial or something like that was only 2 a year so the amount of money is not the issue. Its the amount of massages.
If its a different type of specialist then it goes in a different category but in those category's I cant see there being anyone to wack you off lmao
