Prices are so cheap, it's like Amazon on steroids but direct from China. I use it mainly to buy items that solve pesky household problems like waterproof tape, mozzie zappers, gutter cleaning shovel, hardware etc. I've sacrificed punting money for Temu and I find it more rewarding and better value. Free shipping $40 minimum order downside: delivery time takes 2 weeks but they compensate you $5 if the order arrives late, fake reviews, items like clothes are poor quality, etc. Fuck I've spent over $1k easily, only tried it like a few months ago.

Yes it's better value than punting.
But also know the CCP now have your information.

Agreed. I've heard by someone in the "know" that to be somewhat "safe" on TEMU, when first registering, you should go into the site's settings and uncheck a whole swag of checked boxes. I don't use TEMU but thought I should mention this.
Just my 2 cents worth, cheers...

I’d say use a burner card with only enough money in it at any time to cover a purchase.

I've used it once but still prefer Aliexpress even though its slightly pricier than Temu. I swear some of the fishing/camping gear I've received came from the same factory as the well known branded gear.
As for handing over my details. Since I've gotten the Chinese visa several times, my info is with the CCP already. Sometimes I think its bullshit why they need so much detail in the visa application though.

For some reason you think I should do what you say and that you should decide who posts here. I think it's because you're an angry person and have to project your own self loathing onto others.
And I am not Trans World Airlines, a Time Weighted Average, a Twa pygmy from Africa, The White Album, a Third world Assassin or a Three Word Acronym so I dunno what you're talking about.
You got the trans part right..

Nah, never looked but always see the ads. An old regular use to buy stuff all the time but even she said the quality of goods is hit and miss. I can’t comment because I’ve never used it.

I've used them a couple of times. I'm not "addicted" to them yet, but I can see how one can get addicted to them. Their sales pitch technique is incredible. Some might say it's spam, but others might just get sucked into the whole "play a game and win an incredible deal" proposition. Kudos to the person who came up with this idea!
My experience shopping with them has been great, though. On par with Amazon. Ordering and delivery was extremely smooth.

Given I use WeChat daily, have had several PRC visas, have been to the PRC many times... I'm sure I'm in their database, with photo, especially given I don't blend in there.
As for Temu, I've used Temu, though I do prefer AliExpress. Have bought a number of items from AE, all excellent and shipped promptly, well packed.
General:
Saw a Dispatches episode about Temu, Dispatches 2024 05 30 The Truth about Temu.
While the products are not exactly fake, they do stretch limits. Maybe the children's clothing uses non-fire-resistant material. Maybe the jewelry or toys contain lead. The electronics are not UL approved. The cosmetics - questionable ingredients. Etc.
Specific:
I use a Privacy card for unknown internet shopping. Has a CC number linked to your actual CC. You use the Privacy number. Can set a limit, number of times it can be used, etc. Small fee, but worth it to me. Some banks also offer something similar, allowing you to link a generated CC number to your credit card. Has protected me several times when, somehow, a number used by one shop, another shop also tried to use. Charge automatically declined.
