This is something I have experienced recently at Sakura.
Sakura, along with Kyoto, originally allows customers see and choose the girls.

However, this female receptionist at Sakura often doesn't show the girls in the morning and tricks the customers. If the customer doesn't seem to have met the girls in person, she never shows the girl first and makes customers choose a girl from the photos on website and asks for money first. If the customer pays, she takes the money and makes the punters go up to the room, and then sends a totally different girl, not the real girls who customers chose. The girl who she sends is the worst one; not charming girl at all : chubby or big, short and ugly.

There have been several cases which popular girls who have already left the shop are on the list for a while.
Yes, some shops put girls who are on holiday on the list once sometimes, but Sakura keeps girls who have already left on the list for more than a week.
The worse part is that customers see the pictures or reviews of the girl who has already left and think she is still in the shop and visit there.
Then she dose not show the girl and takes the money first then sends a completely different and the worst girl.

I have had those experience with her a couple of times. This is wrong and cheating.
The female receptionist in Kyoto is kind and helpful to the guests, but the punters visiting Sakura should be aware of this kind of her behavior.
Keep this in mind, it is hard to get a refund after you have paid in this shop.

The easiest solution is to eliminate the cause - go elsewhere. But if you insist:

I understand why shops don't like line-ups. Given a string of arriving punters, it's additional mostly unproductive work for the girls - stand up, line up, go back, sit down, stand up, line up... Interferes with the ladies "relaxing" time. So, I'll reluctantly accept a tablet line-up, picking from there.

But, insist on COD. If they want you to go to a room, fine, just explain that when YOUR lady arrives, you'll give her the cash, and the receptionist can come to the room to collect from THE chosen girl. If they want the cash, fine, WHEN THE lady shows her face, leads you to the room, you'll hand it to HER, and as before, the receptionist can get some exercise by collecting it from THE girl in the room. Sure, still the possibility of a bait-n-switch, but at least you'll know she's on the premises, and you should be able to get some idea of HER attitude towards you... If the receptionist balks, just ask her why she doesn't trust her employees to collect and hold the cash? Shouldn't be a problem if the girl IS there.

If she insists on cash, then 2 words will suffice: bye bye.

I see your point, BUT there's a big difference between trying to guide a punter to an alternate and a true bait&switch. Just the other day, Summerville, Summer was suggesting an alternate because my booking was still busy. I declined, shown a room, and waited for MY choice; no MISdirect attempted. In my view, the receptionist is doing irreparable harm to the shop. Yes, it might work, but shops (and ladies) thrive on repeat business. I stopped going to another massage shop (AR floating around) when the receptionist tried to pull an illegal substitution - gave the girl an instant name change which I didn't buy (literally). Another of my comments floating around, when the quarterback tried to hand-off the ball(s) to a junior back, the junior fumbled - poor service. That damages ALL, the shop, the quarterback, the junior.

I've experienced shops that, on the tablet line-up, the default is "who's available NOW". Another tab brings up all, but the punter is told these are NOT available NOW - would you like to book. I know, on-line, some shops have pageS and pageS of girls, but, in reality, only a FEW are currently working. The others are in that "well, they MIGHT return SOMEDAY" category. Stupid. Yes, it's a trade-off between keeping your employees happy and your customers happy. That's why GOOD managers are worth good money, be it in shop or bar.

Bar FL's, that scene is BRUTAL - permanent line-up. But eventually each FL gravitates to a bar where she can find enough business to make a living, or goes home. I'm NOT a white knight to solve the injustices of the world.

Well, in my case, it's simple. It's a combination of shop owner PLUS personal experience in the shop. That combination is what guides my responses, and, while offered, I've never accepted a discount for a review or post.

Solution is not all that difficult: "No thank you". And as I've AR'd (which separates the punters from the whiners), with a shop that's tried a switch, I walked, then talked with the manager of why I wouldn't be coming back to that shop.

I think this is more a case of the have-nots whining, while the haves just smile and keep on punting, racking up win after win.
