Does anyone else have trouble getting replies from private WLs when contacting them via email?
I've sent out emails and never heard a response.
How long would people wait to send a follow up sms?

Im feelin' you bro - psuedo ghosting can be brutal. I once sent a chick a fax enquiring about her rates and services…...and that was over a year ago and still no fucken reply! There's some chicks out there running their business like it’s a fucken hobby.

Am I right Line doesn't accept Australian mobile numbers?

Yes, LINE does accept Australian mobile numbers, but there are some limitations. While you can theoretically register or change your phone number to an Australian one, LINE has stopped allowing new account registrations using phone numbers entirely, as of November 15, 2023. This means you can't create a new LINE account using a phone number, but you can still use an existing account and potentially change its phone number to an Australian one.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
New Account Sign-Up:
You can no longer sign up for a new LINE account using a phone number. Instead, you'll need to use an Apple ID (on iOS) or a Google account (on Android).
Existing Accounts:
If you already have a LINE account, you can potentially change your phone number to an Australian one. However, you may encounter issues or limitations depending on your account's origin and region.
Number Format:
In Australia, mobile numbers are typically written as 04xx xxx xxx. When used internationally, they are often written as +61 4xx xxx xxx, where "+61" is the country code for Australia.
"Your region doesn't allow adding a phone number":
This error message may appear if you try to register a new LINE account or change your phone number, indicating that the specific region or phone number you're trying to use is not supported, according to a Reddit thread.
And, damn again, I must be old - when I signed up for Line, using a phone number was THE way...

Ahh, I should have elaborated as I meant new accounts.
You or AI may have some insight as to my line issue: I had to reset my mobile late last year and it presented problems in reestablishing some apps and accounts which I got through, except Line, which was set up using Google.
When I try to reestablish the account Line tells me it already exists and I can't sign in via Google and pwd. Line recognizes I may have a new device, but in my case it's the same device but reset. Line wants you to complete a transfer process from the "old" device which in my case is the same device. They do ask if you have access to the "old" device and give you an option to proceed if you don't but it's at this step the process breaks down and I go around in a circle!
Annoying as I have a line account and an pwd but can't sign in?

I never tried logging in to Line using a Google account. All my chat apps I've logged in using my AU mobile number, so that includes WhatsApp and WeChat. Resetting my phone, or purchasing a new one, would log in seamlessly that way. Keeping chat logs, that's a different story. Need to make back-ups and all that.

I feel your pain. Happened to me a couple of years ago, mobile wouldn't boot, had to factory reset. Can't remember exactly how I got back into Line. WeChat was more of a problem. Had to SMS a couple of PRC friends I'd regularly chat with with a code that they would send, verifying "I was me". This year, everything was easy as I was moving from "old" to "new" with access to both. Best I could find:

Good luck. Having protection from account hijacking is nice, but it can get in the way with legit uses.

Yea, sure that works... ... unless you're traveling and (I say Cheap Charlie, you say economical reasons) you don't have roaming enabled. You can't get those back home sms messages on a local sim card...

Agree generally, but I think you will find now that for some time any new Line accounts cannot be established with an Australian mobile number. You need Google etc

Yeah that's a given (can't receive SMS to your AU number overseas with roaming off). But logging in with your +61 phone number into Line/WhatsApp/WeChat while overseas does not require that SIM card to be in your phone. As long as you have access to data (whether it's WiFi or local SIM), you can still use those chat accounts logged in with your +61 number.

Didn't know new Line accounts require a Google link. Mine's still just attached by my phone number.
