Earlier today I saw a thread with two guys having a go at each other over the perceived risk of kissing...

The more intelligent and openminded people here (of which there are few, I know) who are willing to entertain the possibility that not everything they learned in school, uni, or elsewhere is necessarily accurate, or the whole truth, might perhaps want to research the topic in the title.
Me personally, I don't think those two theories are necessarily mutually exclusive, but I do think the dangers of germs (or 'contagion') are being massively exaggerated and the importance of maintaining a healthy 'terrain' massively underappreciated. But do your own research. And perhaps you end up finding out that you needn't be as afraid as certain powers with vested interests suggest....if you're keeping your 'terrain' healthy, that is.

In the context of my above post, 'terrain' refers to the internal environment of the body, i.e. its overall health, metabolism, immune system, balance, absence of toxins, availability of all necessary substrates, mental and emotional health, etc.

I read in Forums about guys who BB every girl (or so they say) and they profess to never catch anything.

I am not sure how STIs works but I know I am so bloody susceptible. I am cut and clean and healthy. I have few times when I otherwise catch a cold and take no medications.

When I go on trips to overseas I catch something. Even a sweet asian girl I met in Brisbane last year I caught something from her. I am quite sensitive to any difference in feeling when I urinate so that will trigger an early STI screen otherwise I have a regular STI screen every three to four months. I have not been surprised with anything unexpected on the regular screens only on the ones where I think I have something.

These days my overseas trips are all covered adventures.

Shop visits are always covered FS with BBBJ. I don't have anything traced to those. My greatest local risk is amateur girls from dating sites.

I'm not saying you shouldn't be safe.
What I'm saying is that you shouldn't allow your life to be ruled by exaggerated dangers and unfounded fears. There is a difference.
The ruling class has been using fear to manipulate and control us for millennia. They're giving us only as much truth as it aligns with their interests and agendas. If you want to live a life that strikes the right balance between freedom and safety you cannot simply believe everything they're telling you and instead have to look into things yourself.
I know all this sounds fairly abstract and to some perhaps misplaced in this forum, but the reason for me to start this thread was the exaggerated fear of STDs that is often on display here.

Even if you're normally lean, fit and healthy, when you travel you're disturbing your internal balance. Disrupted sleeping patterns, different food (affects your gut microbiome, a BIG immunity factor), usually more alcohol etc etc.

I think most guys recognise that most STI’s arent the end of the world, but there are some nasty ones you don’t want. HIV for instance. Other bad ones are less common, but out there.
Most punters have an innate fear of passing something onto their significant other. If they have one.
Its easy to treat yourself. If its an easy one to treat.
I cant imagine its much fun if the partner comes down with syphillis and explaining that away.

Is there anybody who takes more care of her private parts than a sex worker? It’s their asset for making money. Based on my own experience with numerous MLs, they all have significant concerns about hygiene, much more than normal women. What’s the point of unfounded panic. There is risk for doing anything. Just enjoy the moment. I worked for 2 companies in the past 2 years. In each company, there are colleagues I personally knew died. One died from breast cancer. One died suddenly from heart attack. They both worked closely with me. The other guy I communicated every day just had brain cancer. A couple of weeks ago, a colleague collapsed in his seat in front of me. They were all very young. Just enjoy life. We are all survivors in some sense

If I had to create a TOP10 list of unfounded fears in the context of this forum, HIV would probably be in the #1 spot...
THIS is really something you might want to dig a bit deeper into, with an open mind, and preferably unbiased by what you think you know...

This is a complicated space. Post hoc ergo propter hoc is a real issue in this space as correlation is often not related to causation. The data is patchy and very context dependant. What we can state is that physiological health is factor in infection likelihood, but the reality is that these bugs are well selected for circumventing natural defences. That said, dose is a determinant in any infection process. What data there is suggests that in Australia, risk of infection from a sex worker who doesn't use intravenous drugs is no higher than non-sex workers. That said, studies are limited. Regular testing is a key protective measure.
