Not sure if anyone experienced this but last week was messaging a shop for the roster, and left it like that.

Today driving around with kids (teenage age) and a random message came through on phone form the shop , which popped up on screen.

"hot new girl, today roster are x y z etc".
Pretty sure my son got a good glance and I brushed it off as a spam. Counting my stars my wife wasn't in the car.

Before I message back firing abuse, my thinking shops shouldn't be messaging you, ever, unless it's in response to a message you initiated. Right?

Plenty of settings on your phone to prevent this from happening

Definitely bad form for a shop to message you unprompted.

Such as?
Only thing that comes to mind is to turn off sms notifications. But I'm a tradie and get like 20 sms a day so do need it coming through.
Can't block the number as I do message them from time to time.. Like I said was an unexpected message so can't pre-empt and prepare for it.

You'd like to think they wouldn't / shouldn't, but I've heard there are more than a few shops around that will send unsolicited messages (roster updates etc.) out to anyone on their mailing list; their mailing list being any customer who contacts them via that method.

Yes shit move by the shop. I got a text message from a MILF shop I visited twice advertising their roster. Straight on the blocked list

Plenty of shops have been doing this since forever. Just block their number, then unblock when you need to message them. After your done, block them again.

Always block a shop after u call or msg. I had a shop call me while driving. Bad form for sure.

There's a shop in Bexley that put all their customers phone numbers in a distribution list and sent out a bulk text message, every customers number was visible. Shop owner couldn't see the problem with it, said I must just ignore the message.

Bro this is day 1 opsec. Separate your worlds. Shops and girls should not be able to contact you on any channels that people in your real life do. And when you're out in your real life, do not be logged into anything that could unexpectedly cause issue.

That's a stupid move bu the shop, and even worst their attitude that it's ok.

To be safe put your display notifications without receiving full text just a title of the sender’s name without any further full messages unless you unlock the phone.

Name and shame, give us their number so we can bombard them with spam

Just call from withheld number or use WeChat. And the ones that do get through, just walk with your feet and go to another shop.

Don’t be dictated to go to a shop when they want, you work hard for your money, go when you want - unless it’s a offer of 50% off… well I knowing me I won’t be walking but running down there.

I don’t mind it, just the norm now receiving ads from everywhere. Better stay single and don’t have kids 😉

I hadn't seen my reg for a few weeks & out of the blue on Sat 24 May she sent me a SMS asking "when can I see my 19 y o boyfriend again" - a little joke we share. First time ever she has initiated contact. Just told her been busy with many other things (which is true) & will catch up with her again soon.

Things must be REALLY quiet...

It must be very dead for them, as I have had a few regulars or shops send me a discreet “Hi” but luckily nothing more.
