Yeast infections don't actually smell.
If it was liquid/milky and not lumpy or had 'chunks' then yeah, more likely it was a previous customer's creampie.
Next time, rub some between your fingers. If it's milky but a little sticky, then it's vaginal discharge. If it's not, well....

Everyone should be getting STD checks at least once every six months.
Punters should be getting them even more frequently (GPs say every 3 months) and I'd say even more frequently if you BBFS with WLs, but I don't know what the frequency for that would be.
