I was driving down Old Cleveland Road and directly opposite Cooparoo State School is a shop with a big sign in the window saying Take 5 massage is moving here. I then noticed on the fence at T5 a note that it is moving in Dec. It looks like it will be a big shop with 8 rooms, 6 with showers.

Wouldn't the new sex work guidelines prevent it being near a school?

I would have thought so, but I don't know the details of the new guidelines. I'm assuming the owner would have looked into that.

Under the Criminal Code (Decriminalising Sex Work) and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2024 (Qld),

which commenced on 2 August 2024, the Prostitution Act 1999 and its licensing regime were repealed.

The old rules requiring separation from schools or places of worship no longer apply.

Sex work businesses are now assessed under the Planning Act 2016 (Qld) and Planning Regulation 2017 (Qld) like any other lawful commercial use.

Big thanks to bro Fred for spotting and posting this I actually put up that “Coming Soon” poster just to draw in some potential walk-ins, never thought the bold ad would get picked up by our sharp punters straight away. Guess the colour combo worked better than expected! I’ll definitely be keeping this colour scheme in mind for the new signage and posters.

The new owner’s a builder, mate. They’ve already got DA in hand and plan to throw up new builds on the site. Rent money’s nothing to them

They will probably build one of those houses on stilts where to get to the first floor it’s like climbing Mt Everest

Sex workers are allowed near schools BUT some of our fellows punters might be restricted within 100 metres of school.

(That's a joke, no one in mind)
