See not much has changed in some ways. 30 years ago, more off the beaten track, bit more wild west. Not too well lit at night, you definitely didn't want to be walking around after dark, lot of dodgy areas. Luckily, taxis and motorbike taxis plentiful and cheap, they knew the safe routes. Major red light district, forgot the name. $5 (back then, everyone was using USD for currency; even the small grocery markets prices were in USD). Heart of Darkness was a going bar, along with another, MusicBox? or some such. Lot of war vet maimed beggars (land mine victims); if you were a westerner, you'd draw a crowd.

Obvious Ankgor Wat. Bad news - from what I've heard, can be very crowded now. Good news - more areas opened up due to mine clearing efforts (those people have stones...)
