Poppy is opening a new shop at the old TikTok Nundah. it's called Opium Massage, 1 Aspinall St, Nundah. The WeChat roster has 24 Oct as the pre opening date, not sure what that means. There are 2 ladies from Poppys Paradise on the roster

Great news! Initially, Tiktok Nundah was very famous and very busy shop since they had many non-asians MLs. I hope new opium massage will bring non-asians to get back the same amazing vibes as previous.

66 is too close
Herps
PS I know all shops North side and average rentals per month via my contacts

Hey Herps, do you think their was an incentive to take it on (reduced rent)?

'Opium Massage', seriously?
I get the connection to 'Poppy', but still a strange, and probably not overly smart choice.

I thought it was quite clever. Connection to Poppy, but also something that is described as intoxicating and addictive. I'd be hoping my new shop achieved an addictive habit for punters. Yves Saint Laurent seems to agree as those words are used in the description of their well know perfume of the same name.

... something that is described as intoxicating and addictive....
Yeah, but not in a good way.
I think nowadays most people would have negative associations with the word......Opium wars (in particular Chinese customers), opium addiction, opium crisis, just to name a few.
YSL launched their 'Opium' fragrance in 1977. I doubt they would make that choice in today's world.
There are many ways to name a business/massage shop in an intriguing and individual way, but I would avoid any connections/associations with drugs.
Just my two cents.

Except that YSL rereleased Opium in 2014 as Black Opium, so clearly they weren't too concerned.

Hey Herps, do you think there was an incentive to take it on (reduced rent)? Yes Sir
Yes
I have looked at many shops up for lease on the North -Side
I have been offered free rent for a month and new floor coverings or upgrades inside if I lease the shop-or reduced rent for 12 months then a 10% increase if a 3-year lease is signed
Poppy would require 10 to 15 customers a day to run that shop IMO
This area has a few massage shops close to this shop - Bamboo and others
I will only lease a shop in an area where no other shops exist
I need 4 rooms-carpark -transport for the girls - shower wash basin in rooms- kitchen -lounge - and a main road location-I looked at many shops for lease all over the north side and have not found a good location to date--A good shop requires big money
There are too many shops in some suburbs within walking distance of other shops
I sold My Business May 2025 for a good- profit to travel Thailand
Just Asking you Guys were -is Mr Smithy Chips Bogan Man gone I need to contact him
Herps
PS I think Poppy would need 15 customers a day and hot young girls to make a good profit

Once established, it's hard to change the name of a product line, but OMG OMG......'Black' and an addictive substance together in a product name....how racist....how come the woke crowd hasn't discovered this one yet?!?

And yet there is a fairly active Chinese language forum where all the currently popular shops and ladies are being discussed.

This shop will do well. Poppy's girls are better than the competition ànd at fair prices. We all know this is the formula for a successful shop. She started by herself in January this year in one of the areas with the highest competition in Brisbane and has turned it into one of the top shops in Brisbane. Northsiders will be happy they don't need to cross the river anymore.

I actually think it’s a really interesting name. “Poppy” is the flower, and “Opium” is the fruit that comes from it — maybe it’s meant to symbolize growth or success

OK Let's see Pome how she goes
Pome
What is a fair price Sir with stunning staff and do they charge less than the old Chinese Boilers?
I know all prices my girls charged Sir
Good Luck Poppy once again
I went past with one of my ex-Staff-a-Thai today around 2.00 PM
The shop fitters' bits and bobs were in the front room area reception
About 3 Meters from the door customers of cafe 66 were sitting outside having a snake
They glanced over at me as I looked through the glass door
Boomerang is very busy as well as I have attended
With another couple of massage shops within walking distance
I saw 2 Thai lady boys close to the shop car park unloading a car
Maybe they have an Interest as well
Hot girls can be hard to find as in stunning girls- young and slim
The name does not worry me but it is an unusual name IMO
Just Saying

Ok...all shops are owned by Chinese, and then they have a forum to discuss the shops they own amongst themselves......who wudda thunk...
I actually think it’s a really interesting name. “Poppy” is the flower, and “Opium” is the fruit that comes from it — maybe it’s meant to symbolize growth or success
The people here in the forum who like Poppy, her shop, her girls will probably not care what she calls her new shop and visit no matter what.
I myself also don't really give half a shiny sausage. She can name her shop Heroin, Fentanyl, Oxycodone, Ketamine or Crack massage for all I care. In a lot of people though 'Opium' might evoke unfavourable connotations, and then combine this with this particular location where there is no back entrance and a fairly popular café right next door....
Imagine you are someone in need of a massage, you walk through an area and you spot two shops, both are next to a well frequented coffee shop with lots of outdoor seating. One shop is named Jacaranda Massage, the other one Opium Massage. You know nothing about both shops. Which one do you choose?

Why do massage shops even need massive signs in the window?
Do they expect walk ins at 10am? guys just cruising by going oh boy ill duck in for a 45min handy real quick now ive seen there is a shop here!
No most guys plan out there adventuring ahead of time, they book or they travel to there, I don't even punt on my side of town I drive 20mins away from my house to shops out of the way, I know where I am going.
I think having the cafe next door does turn guys off abit, so why not just have a non descript address sign, without the giant words MASSAGE in the window.
It seems like something they all just do cause everyone else does it without much thought, could always have a sign to put on after dark, but keep it behind a curtain during the day when cafes full of grandmas and mums.
Ive been to poppy/take 5/5star and everywhere in between, ive driven past probably 50 other shops ive never once gone into a shop I have driven by cause I saw a sign out front.

I dont know if you have been to Tiktok nundah before, but there is two massive signs out front that both say massage on them and a very popular cafe chain with outdoor seating thats full pretty much all day long.
I went there couple of times and I can understand people from the area hesitancy to go there, your literally in view of the entire cafe going into a place with 2 big signs with massage on them it's very noticeable and you will get stared at as you leave.
Most punters value discretion even if they are not married or what not.
I personally would feel much more comfortable, if the signage just said Poppys or Opium whatever on it, not the have MASSAGE plastered all over.
I think the upside of signage is pretty much zero unless you want clueless women occasionally wandering in and the downside is pretty impactful due to it's location, if there is prominent massage signage I wouldn't bother go there myself, there are other places like westone with a quiet back door that work.

I agree with you thunder545454. Its very discomfort into enter to in the shop when full of cafe customers are watching. Another thing is, the amazing MLs will not prefer to work in these shops which are not private / discrete. Its just not customers but MLs also will have problem.

You are right.
And 'Harmony Thai' is a good example. No signage whatsoever. And yet the place seems busy. Whenever I'm there I can hear the doorbell ring several times during my hour.

So there is no back door at this new shop? If not, I won't be going there. Not walking in and out with a cafe full of people right at the entrance. I go to poppies at Carina sometimes so happy to just go there.
Surely this limits business? I would imagine most guys will avoid the shop due to this.

Thank you........
Herpetology-she's a proven winner in Carina. She's worked at this shop previously and you have no idea about the deal she's done for the property. If you want to know fair prices for top service why don't you visit her shop in Carina? I highly recommend 🙂
Personally, I'm pretty happy we are gonna have top girls on the Northside. I don't care about the name and as I'm an afternoon/evening customer I don't care about the cafe. I do care about top quality service with top girls.
I've visited this shop plenty of times when it was Tiktok as did many other punters on here. As a customer, it seems obvious that the more shops and the more competition the better it is for us.
Of course, Herpetology, has a business that will have to complete with Opium so I can understand his negativity. Other punters should be happy they now have a top option on the Northside. Herpetology- I guess we'll see....
