That's a bit of a fanciful story. Legal action takes a lot of money and time, and it's very difficult to get court orders to "clear anyone's bank account".
Also, "Eventually she gave up her electronic devices" is not how things work. Police would need a search warrant issued by a magistrate.
Lots of inconsistencies in this story.
