I don't see any ganguro girls on offer in any of the j girl heavy establishments. Interested to hear what the lads here have to say about this.

Here is some MV that predates WAP for reference.

Well, thanks for expanding our cultural referencing strongboi. I looked up the term and posted it below. The only negative about this, and it is a big one, is that their beautiful young skin is defiled and damaged in tanning salons to achieve the look. Japanese society's perceptions of poor hygiene amongst them though are laughable.

"Ganguro appeared as a new fashion style in Japan in the early 1990's and is prevalent mostly among young women and women in their early 20's to this date. In Ganguro fashion, a deep tan is combined with hair dyed in shades of orange to blonde, or a silver grey known as "high bleached". Black ink is used as eye-liner and white concealer is used as lipstick and eye-shadow. False eyelashes, plastic facial gems, and pearl powder are often added to this. Platform shoes and brightly-colored outfits complete the Ganguro look. Also typical of Ganguro fashion are tie-dyed sarongs, miniskirts, stickers, lots of bracelets, rings, and necklaces.

Ganguro falls into the larger subculture of Gyaru, a slang term used for various groups of young women, usually referring to overly childish or rebellious girls. Researchers in the field of Japanese studies believe that Ganguro is a form of revenge against traditional Japanese society due to resentment of neglect, isolation, and constraint of Japanese society. This is their attempt at individuality, self-expression, and freedom, in open defiance of school standards and regulations. The deep Ganguro tan is in direct conflict with traditional Japanese ideas of feminine beauty. Due to this, as well as their use of slang, unconventional fashion sense, and perceived lack of hygiene, Ganguro girls are almost always portrayed negatively by the Japanese media.

The Ganguro culture is often linked with Para Para, a Japanese dance style. However, most para para dancers are not Ganguro, and most Ganguro are not para para dancers, though there are many who are Ganguro or gal and dance para para.

One of the most famous early Ganguro girls was known as Buriteri. Egg magazine made her a star by frequently featuring her in its pages during the height of the Ganguro craze. After modelling and advertising for the Shibuya tanning salon "Blacky", social pressure and negative press convinced Buriteri to retire from the Ganguro lifestyles."

In Australia you will have trouble finding a ganguro girl. In Japan they are almost nowhere to be found since that fashion is almost extinct. With that said the gyaru (slightly less extreme than ganguro) is still well alive and there is a soapland specialising in them. You might get gyarus in Australia.

Ps: the girls in the video are more considered gyaru than ganguro.

There was a JAV actress Risa a few years ago at Ginza. She hasn't come back.

The funny thing was that she was nasty as in the videos but pretty vanilla at Ginza.

I chalked it down to too much dick as she was completely booked out back to back.

Agree with the gyaru concept and vibe whilst rate they do occasionally land on our shores the most recent ones from memory were J Lumika and J Lilika (?) of the ones currently rostered in Ginza though I think only yuan/marina gives that vibes if she still rocking that blonde hair and Shibuya makeup look

Same here, hoping she returns.

The ganguro/kogal craze was at its peak when I was coming of age so I've been a fan of gyaru looks ever since.

Now if only 108 Mirage Honey/Ginza Jasmine would dye her hair. I'd smash her even harder.
