Possibly only a few years away from a cashless society? This is a worry, making it harder to keep things secret from clever gfs and wives.

Don't worry bro,

The cash economy will not go away, I can guarantee that. All the small business, under the table, cash economy, Chinese restaurants takings, paying cash to employee who are illegel and under award, no workcover, no super. (including the sex industry) etc. etc. Cash is always king and cash is here to stay.

Cheers

I am with Ahlungor, they will try as much as they like but the only way to stop it really is to close down the Royal Mint.

I cant imagine sending my 7yo daughter to school with my credit card or a cheque to pay for her lunch order from the tuck shop!!! FWIW, she cant even remember to keep her shoes on, but thats another story.

Another group that Ahlungor forgot to mention that loves cash is the focus of one of my favourite movie "one liners". It's in the movie "The Castle", when Michael Caton asks his "new australian" neighbour Farouk,

"What is it with you bloody wogs and cash!!!!!"

classic.

As if hookers would work for anything other than cash. Then they'd have to pay tax !

The cash economy will always exist in this world unless we are living in a world free of tax.

I just like to add.......free of tax and crimes.......haha

Cash is king .... never change ...

The future is going to be on-line business, all related to consumer goods and products, which is cutting out the middle man. e.g. Myers cut 100 jobs, Harvey Norman cuts 26 stores, Dicksmith will close down .... many people will be out of job.

However, you still need to go have hair cut, buy a daily coffee, and punting. It is all cash money. Basically buying SERVICE is more dominated by cash . It is the breathing space for SMB (small to medium entreprise) and SOHO market
Cash will never die out.

Yeah what a Joke.

It's BS - that people are buying online. - Seriously - Who would buy a $5K TV - online. No one - who buys a Bathroom On line.? People like to go shoping see these things. THey may not use cash. But as pointed out - other things will use cash.

I love how when the GST came in they said it would eliminate Cash roits BS. Made it even more. Because all the GST was is TAX on a TAX.
The so called one off it's not. But you make killing by say as an example you buy something whole sale or Trade etc. But don't book in the sale. You didn't collect GST - you didn't charge GST and then so only a one tax or two taxed. item. Black market lives on.

Cash is everyones friend.

IMO it's like the whole thing with that pollititian- people in the know. Know that Unions and the like have like 10 Credit cards all with the same name and number on them but with different CVN. Plus we all know Pollys know it's CASH ONLY.
Like footy players, they might be stupid enough to drive there fancy cars to a brothel but they know not to pay anything but cash.

Mind you the Barter system would be nice for some of us.

Strongly agree with you
My small business will die if i have to pay more GST,
I'm not feeling well now after Tax agent calculate my GST : tax on Tax as you said

That's big money should be my punting budget for half year

So sad now, punting dream might slow down

If you read about Diners Club, the first credit card, you will find articles dating back to the 1970's predicting that the printing of cash will have stopped by the year 2000.
