Are you saying the rapist's sentence was too long or the manslaughter sentence was too short? I'd wanna see average sentences over a period of time to make any comparison, not just two individual cases.

2.5yrs isn't just ridiculous but very telling of how much the system protects and FAVOURS women AND with no regard for the detriment of men. He should definitely appeal the sentence.
