View Full Version : General talk The deposit minefield

Let’s talk about booking deposits, specifically in Sydney. Because honestly? My first instinct is always: if you’re asking for cash upfront before we’ve even met, you’re probably a lazy scammer. And look, logically, I get the business side of it. Sex work is fully legal here, independents run legitimate businesses, and time is money. No-shows suck, so a genuine provider asking for a holding fee to lock in a time slot makes sense on paper. It’s what any other freelancer does.
But out here in the real world? The deposit system has been completely hijacked by scammers. The internet is absolutely flooded with fake profiles using stolen photos, and their entire business model is tricking you into sending 50 bucks via some untraceable app, only to ghost you the second the payment clears. They count on the fact that you’ll be too embarrassed to call your bank or report it.
So yeah, while the top-tier, actual professionals might use deposits to protect themselves, it’s created a minefield for the rest of us. When nine out of ten people asking for an upfront transfer are just digital thieves sitting behind a screen overseas, treating a deposit request as an immediate red flag isn’t being cynical; it’s just basic self-defense.
Which makes me wonder: how does everyone else here actually trust their own screening skills when it comes to spotting a genuine ad and rolling the dice on a deposit? Surely no one’s track record is a perfect 100%. What’s your actual success rate, and what’s the one green flag that makes you feel safe enough to actually hit send?

I never pay a deposit, it might mean that I can't see certain girls (who may be legit), but it also means that I 100% will not be scammed out of $

Deposit is a big No. - For outcalls, I organize the Uber to pick up and return her.

IMPE, I know to stay out of minefields. Why I still have both legs... Also know how to spot tripwires...

Straight to the chase , only lost a $50 deposit to a WL in Penrith (Mercedes Rouge ?) about 7 years ago. Have paid numerous deposits over the years and had no problems . If the WLs become my regulars then the deposit is dropped because I*m a sure thing , only one or two still require a deposit as they*re not that financially savvy and require Uber / taxi , smokes etc
I only deal with verified photos on EscortsandBabes and ScarletBlue so chances of being scammed are lessened and can sympathise with those that require the need for deposits to confirm bookings .. yep there*s arseholes out there that cost time and money for WLs with fake bookings and let alone outcalls to no shows.

thank you for the answer!
It seems that you apply minimal precautionary actions: EB and SB and only verified photos. Over the year you must have developed a natural sense for what is "too good to be true". Do you avoid completely 300/hr and below?!

As you asked Warden , yes , I avoid other sites like Locanto .. it just screams scams, bait and switch to me . Occasionally have tried $300 hr MLs in shops for fs , never WLs on other sites especially if asking for deposits , lots of hits and misses with a rare gem found.

Deposit is not even the worst, some working ladies are now asking for ID (FFS)

I’m thinking to myself - does it mean I give your mine, and in exchange you’d give me yours?

Needless to say about what she could do with my ID - I mean who’s the genius behind this nonsense
