So I met this chick from a group of friends and thought she was kinda cute, but noticed she had a ring on her left hand ring finger. The group would usually hang out and do stuff like movies, rock climbing, Hunter Valley trips etc, and everyone in the group was single, so I thought it was a bit odd that she was the only married one in there.

Anyway, got talking to her a bit and learnt that her husband has actually been overseas working for the last 3 years without coming back once. So I figured that she must be bored and just wanted to come out and meet some new people to pass some time and keep herself entertained. However, part of me did wonder if she was secretly looking for more while her husband was away?

Which makes me ask the brothers here - in your experience how likely or often do married women cheat? If you had to put a percentage on it, what would it be?

Wouldnt this also vary based on the culture? More Westernised cultures are more open to sexual play than the really conservative ones (Mid East, Asian). Sorry if that sounded like stereotyping.

Very stereotypical....

A recent article I read stated that about 1 in 3 visiting a marriage councilor/ psychologist etc was due to extra marital affairs. It didn't mention which party was the cheater.

People will cheat if they think they can get away with it and the other party won't find out, regardless of culture. I actually know more asian females that have cheated than western females....But that's just in my own social networks.

Three years overseas without coming home once?? Bro, you know, I know, she knows and all her fricking friends know what her "husband" is up to. Unless he's some kind of illegal immigrant worker overseas, or got thrown into jail somewhere, there's no excuse to be away that long. That is what I call a scam of a marriage.
Regarding your question if this chick was looking to cheat, I think she's looking for more than that. She'd be looking for a real partner to replace her so-called husband. I suppose you can try to charm her, it'll work if you've got the right moves but beware. A woman in her situation is not a "normal" married woman. Those are fun if they do cheat... They have too much at stake to demand commitment from you. For this woman, she has nothing at stake, so she'll want commitment.
