Not too sure, looks like have to have a Chinese bank account to transfer funds, unless someone else sends you $$$

My boss was in China recently and he said that his guys over there were paying for everything via WeChat. Cards no good.

You need an ID from a bank in China.

I got a friend to send me a red packet via WeChat but I couldn't open it. She got it back a day later.

You can do everything on WeChat, buy, sell advertising. Banks are doing outbound campaigns straight to WeChat. No more emails or SMS over there.

Damn, I managed to get my wallet activated after receiving some RMB from a chinese mate. It accepts my Aussie credit cards but wont let me add funds to the wallet :(

I couldn't even get Wallet.

Yeah, I work with a lot of Chinese from mainland and HK, so you need a debit card from a Chinese bank in China. So we can't go to ICBC or BOC here and open an account, it still won't work.
