View Full Version : Question No Korean Customers
I’ve been seeing a lot of Korean girls on Ginza with the “no Korean” label on. Question is why specifically the Korean wls won’t see Koreans? Is it because they might know them or something else?
How would you tell a Korean apart from someone of another Asian ethnicity? Or do they not see asians in general? Really interested as Bella from ginza only sees Asian customers.
What are your thoughts guys?

They don't want to risk meeting a Korean guy they know.
The Korean community in Sydney is not very big, and concentrated in just a few suburbs, so the chances of someone they know turning up as a customer although slim are real enough, and many girls don't want to take that risk.

Its a Korean thing that when a Korean meets another Korean, they try to get to know them better by seeing if they have things in common such as social groups or the hometown they come from.
All Korean WLs who come here for work wouldnt be telling anybody back home about what they're doing here I imagine

Rooter got this right.
Korean WL/ML who refuse Korean customer, are most likely live in Australia for a while already.
So they need to minimise the risks of bumping into someone they know.

They can try passing off as non-K in front of the mamasan/papasan, but the Korean WLs would probably know and likely refuse to service them

Hmmm...sometimes is not easy to differ a person nationality by the looks. But anyway, i just thought it is absurd. Like my mate says, they all look the same. Not being a racist just tryna prove a point

You can’t tell if a person is of your race ???
Most Asians can....

For race yes but not nationality. Some Jap can speak Chinese, some Korean can speak Jap. Some Pakistani speaks Hindi but man they look the same.

Unless you look quite different, most Asians are able to identify their own nationalities tbh. Chinese would be difficult since they could be from China/Macau/HK/Msia/SG/Indo but they are not really into this kind of issue. Face type/shape. hairstyles, fashion, language slangs etc could also give it away

Yeah but they have accents bro. Unless they have been living in that country since childhood or a long time.
Like the other guy said,
Among the Chinese, and chinese diaspora might be trickier. SGP and MAL chinese have subtle differences but most can tell after a conversation. Chinese spoken by typical taiwanese is dead give away from mainland accents where they are more varied but easy to differentiate with taiwanese unless they are from Fujian province which can be tricky. Then you factor in fashion and other stuff but they are secondary compared to accent.

I doubt all that is just limited to a Korean thing. Pretty much all ethnic groups of WL wouldn't go back to their home and tell anyone they are WL overseas.

Trust me bruvs..if i go to Strathfield, ppl sometimes approach me and start speaking Korean
When I go to Chinese area, they start speaking Mandarin
Even Jap had talked to me in Jap. But i am none of them.
I got your point but still its not always the case. Plus I have seen some Korean WLs and the still ask me "are u Korean" - I use to jokingly reply yes and i am from Seoul and if i say some Korean words, they say "ah u Korean?"
