[Thailand Bangkok] Gogo Bar Insights
Hey everyone quick post about my experiences and recommendations when it comes to gogo's bar in BKK.
You can skip that part if you know already and go the review section.
In short a Gogo's bar is first of all a bar where you can get and must get drink. Not drinking will get you booted out.
Drink tends to be a bit more expensive but still relatively, ok. Note that you are not forced to drink alcohol and can literally get a coke zero or even a bottle of water.
Secondly usually a bar will have from 5 to 50 ladies depending on the venue, they are mainly there to entertain you, so you buy more drink, yeah simple. Those are the Gogo's, most will dance in a podium or do some shows showing titties and what not. If you like one of them, you tell the staff and that's about it, she come next to you and the first things you must do is get her a drink. The ladies drink tends to be kinda of expensive.
At this point the girl will either try to play you as a fool and get as many as she can in a short time, or she'll play it nice but still understand that you will have to pay her drink every 20min or so. My bill usually end up around 1k to 2k bhat.
If the girl is too greedy, just tell her no and she'll leave and find someone else. Otherwise you can usually get some lapdance, touch them etc... Note that touching them too much might hinder you chance for the third part.
Finally those Gogo's make absolutely jack shit out of selling drinks, only the bar does. So what they are after at the end of the day is for you to 'barfine' them. Basically you pay a fee to the bar and the girls goes out of the bar with you for a short or long term time. Short term being 2-3 hours; Long term being until morning. Note that you gotta pay the lady at this point, and that's how she actually make some dough. Some shy guys like to take those ladies to other bar, or nightclub or some silly stuff. But the vast majority end up either in a convenient shot term hotel near by the place or in their condominium/hotel to do what adult do.
A warning at this point; girls from Gogo's are not professional sex worker for the vast majority; you will get scam and pick the wrong girl that has absolutely no idea what she was thinking picking that occupation. They are some gems though, but yeah don't expect too much.
Overall too it's not cheap either; from the drink; the bar fine; the girl tip; the short term hotel or the tuktuk taxi to your condo. When everything add up you will feel like that's not so cheap; but hey if you go to a shop while being broke, think twice.
A lot of customer from what I see just go their mostly for touching, without the bar fine. Note that you can touch more if you ask and tip.
Why even go to a gogo's then ? Well it can be chill and you get to drink and maybe end up with a quickie. Simple men like simple things.
They are three main area for Gogo's in BKK; Nana plaza a big complex of three floor stores with around 20 shop; Soi Cowboy a walking street with a dozen of shops and Patpong who used the be the OG of Gogo's but nowadays not so much. In the following part I'm gonna share my recommendations in order and also warning about each place.
1. Nana Plaza
Out of the three, the best venues overall; located on Sukhumvit the place near Nana BTS station. This place is more controlled than the rest, every girls are 100% thai verified; some shops are said to be own by the police so I guess they don't want any trouble. The vast majority of shops are with actual lady, but you can find a few with ladies boys; they are no mixed shop (ladies + ladies boys). Some shops are thai owned and some are foreigners owned.
Recommendations
Spanky's This shop is own by a foreigner, they don't have any Mamasan that harass you to tip constantly and they perform plenty of small sketch show during the night (you can even participate don't be shy). Most of the girls due to the setup seems more relax and I had mostly good punts there. The big drawback of that place, is that it is fucking too small. The barfine is 1K bhat
and usually lady will ask between 3k to 4k for ST. The shop is on the second floor, next to the left stair when you enter the plaza can't miss it.

Billboard and Butterflies Those two shop are also foreign owned. Their lineup is absolutely ridiculous usually 50+ ladies. It's an okay bar if you like to watch sport I guess, or play with the ladies at the pool. In Butterflies they do have some show as well. They do have a mamasan, and the barfine is 1K bhat and usually lady will ask between 3k to 4k for ST. Both shops are on the third floors

Geisha This shop is I believe thai police owned. The shop has more thai friendly vibe sometimes; but mamasan can be a little bit to pushy though. Their pools is probably the best. The barfine is 1K bhat and usually lady will ask between 3k to 4k for ST. This shop is third floor as well.
They are many many other shops such as Rainbow 1,2,3,4,5, Twister etc... that are usually soulless. I would recommend to stick to those three above and forget the rest. But you can make your own opinion.
Warnings
If you are Asian and look kinda Thai; you will be ID control at the entrance 100%.
Shops like Random are Ladies Boys post ops only; they won't tell you but it's a bit obvious...
Some shop, like the chinese themed one on second floor, will try to barfine you 2K bhat. They are no good reason for a shop to barfine 2k, just ignore.
2. Patpong
Patpong is located near Si Lom; they are around 10 shops + plenty of Boboy's Bar ; understand gay bar. The place is run down; feels old; you will a night market with pretty bad thai food and some asshole that will try to get you to see a ping pong show. Don't go there, unless you want to get scam. Still I have one actual reco!
Recommendations
The Strip2.0 This shop is small as fuck and with pretty bad music. I don't even know what's the barfine is. However they have one cool things. Inside the bar you will find two private booth with curtains. You can barfine in those booth with the curtains close and get some sort of semi voyeurism experience. Usually they provide BBJ in those booth. I'm sure you can bid for more. It's quite unique in BKK to be able to do the deeds in the bar itself. The boothfine is 600h Bhat and the BBJ 2K. You can pick more than one to go in that booth.

The Pink Panther Apparently the oldest Gogo's bar in Bangkok. I've never seen someone barfining anyone there. Why mentioning it then? Every night they have a small Muay Thai show that is kinda fun to watch before going to the shop above.

Warnings Si Lom is a bit of a shady place, also be careful to not go inside an actual gay bar; you might get harassed.
3. Soi Cowboy
Soi Cowboy is located on Sukhumvit, near Asok one of the most busy place in BKK (Metro + Sky train). It's a walking street with plenty of shops own by thai or the arab one.
Recommendations
Crazy House A thai owned bar, that has one particular twist. Most of the Gogo's are naked simply put enough. What's also unique is the relatively low barfine 700 bhat. However the ladies drink for the naked one's are some of the most expensive ones. Don't spend too long drinking there.

Warnings
Plenty of shops in this area are owned by a single Arab guys, that kinda push ladies to make up fake bills and such. The barfine are usually 2k as well. Past 11pm, some bar like Tillac allow ladies boys to sit a the bar and mix with normal ladies without much warning. Anyway just avoid Soi Cowboy, it sucks.
