Short answer: DRUGS. Not the illegal ones though.

Plenty of them take drugs. They consume all sorts of weird stuff, including pills to lose weight, improve mood, sleep, prevent STDs, etc.
It’s a very different culture. They treat medicine like magic pills, without thinking about the long-term consequences… or maybe they just don’t care. Who knows.
