Most punters don't know if they are free from HSV-1, who here has ever had a blood test for it? My ex got cold sores once in a while, so I'd say I'm a carrier too now eventhough I have never had a cold sore after breaking up with her over 22 years ago.

That's right if you want to play safe and still punt. having said this, condoms can't protect you all the time as they will leave other areas exposed.
