Highrollers - Where does their money come from?

To OP, I'm not sure what your definition of "high roller" is, but I know a few that I would call that. One thing I'm sure of is I wouldn't expect to bump into them around any of the shops that are popular on this forum. Agency girls only. They can afford it and the quality is almost guaranteed.

One of them has money from rich dad in China, but kudos to him, he's gone out and started businesses with the money and seems to be working really hard to make them successful. How rich? House in lower Northshore, gambles in the Star VIP ("up stairs, $300 per pokie slap").

Another dude, I'm not sure if his family was rich, but he made heaps of money on his own by doing "Vancouver Model" money smuggling from China to Oz for many years. Also very savvy with his money, started some other legit businesses. Yes, another Star VIP this one.

These are who I would call real high rollers. When you see how much they are able to spend ($200 per pokie slap, $10k per Bacarrat hand, $200k island holiday, $100k Hermes handbags), then $600/hr to fuck a hottie Agency girl really isn't much money at all.

Capitalism basically.

Sleazy Wall Street bankers are synonymous with strippers and high class hookers for a reason. They are not hesitant to spend like $7000 for an hr with agency WLs.

The case with Singapore is interesting. They have their own casino. Actually more than one. For a tiny city state it's impressive or indulgent whichever way you want to look into it. If you look into oligarchs of Singapore, the first generation of them actually were pioneers of a kind. Whether in banking, real estate, food industry etc. When it comes down to present, alot are second or third gen managing or inheriting the family empire.

I know one of one, not close friends, but anyway his dad owned a diverse business including Plantation in Costa Rica at one point. His business kinda went into hard times and on verge of collapse during Asian financial crisis but Chinese mainland money bailed him out as they wanted part of his raw material business. It was fortunately for him before the current cold war by US and coincidentally during the "go out and invest" campaign in China when they were was flushed with cash and they encouraged Chinese state and private companies to invest abroad, anyway long story short, his dad company was saved and even though the family now only holds minority share, it prevented bankruptcy and was enough to start another round of investment and rebirth. He nows live comfortable life and was rumored privately but not confirmed, had cheated his wife with young models and miss Singapore contestants.

I sold the business a while back and have invested some in real estate, sorry not an employer any more.

Agreed...I worked in the casino industry for many years..probably about 70 to 80% of the high rollers are/ or have been involved in some sort of criminal behaviour.

Contracting on a daily rate plus super is pretty good for skills like SQL, SAS, Pega, Python, Alteryx or PowerBI.

Daily rates of $850 to $1,200 before tax are quite common for up to 6 month terms.

The real trick is trying to reduce your tax.

High roller is a broad term. A worker / employee will never be a high roller no matter how successful you are at climbing the ladder, even if you make it to the C-Suite (generally speaking in Australia). Most will require some form of venture i.e. starting a business and selling it, doing property development etc, and preserving/growing wealth from those exits via investments.

For better or worse, Australia is less flamboyant with its "high rollers" because we're a nation with tall poppy syndrome, and people are encouraged to fit in. Means there's less ultra wealthy people (as a proportion of total population), but we also have better overall living standards for all. This culture doesn't exist in Asia and America which are much more capitalist.

I started with nothing and I've got half of it left!

Whenever I find myself comparing to others, I tell myself there's someone out there that started off with less, or in a more disadvantaged position and still made it. It helps me be more positive when I look at the situation like that.

I'm not too sure if I'm a high roller but I do earn enough to punt at least twice a week (average $300/punt) while still being able to pay for living expenses and have some surplus for monthly savings.

There was a point where I got a little addicted that I punted 3-4 times a week, then I felt I had enough so I went back to punting twice a week. During that period I didn't break the bank because I was getting higher returns from investment - there will come a time when you suddenly have so much money that you want to live out your sexual fantasies with it.

Financial wise I have a higher than average paying job + investments, emergency savings that can last me 6 months without a job and all debts paid off. Took me 6 years to get to this point, and during those 6 years I was only able to afford $150 shops once or twice a month.

Your skills and level of competency has a price tag, the better you are the higher the price.

Sum it up, high rollers create their own lucky, they understand how the world works and understand energy (or some form of the laws of energy and laws of attraction.)

Highrollers all have different methods of making money, but they all understand and are ground in principles that date back to start of civilisation.
