True. Line is the go and it has a brilliant people nearby function. The only downside is you can’t register using an Australian number. Get a local sim to register and use it functions. It is also the go to app for Japanese.

Are you sure? Or maybe AI is lying to me :
Yes, you can register a Line account with an Australian phone number by selecting "Australia" as your country during the signup process. To create a new account, open the app, tap "Sign up," select Australia, enter your phone number, and follow the prompts to enter the verification code sent to your phone.
I registered with a non-Thai number a LONG time ago. Seems to me, you just need to be able to receive the verification SMS?
Never used the friends nearby function, but think your mobile would be going off all the time.
Easy to buy an esim from a Thai phone company, either before or on arrival; I used True (other is AIS). Register but don't activate until you are BOTG.
Still, don't leave home without it (Line).
Maybe I’m just an idiot. I get a “your region does not allow adding a telephone number” message when I use my Australian number. This was not always the case and has only appeared since I reinstalled Line. Three years ago, when I was last in Thailand, I had used my Australian number. You’re right about the ease of buying a thai eSIM.
Correct but I use WeChat for initial connection then line. They can see your location too so you’re not wasting each others time. WeChat is the search engine.
Last time I stayed in Bangla Rd and there was a lot of action right there. Furthest I picked up was 6 kms but didn’t need to go that far.
You can use WeChat “people nearby” here too in Sydney for the same thing, shops and girls list on there.
Three nights in Bangkok is really three afternoons and three nights.
In reality it is easily six experiences that you can have...
Afternoons
You can decide whether you partake of a punt or just the optics.
1. Get a nuru massage, this is a punt experience, and a unique one, many many places.
2. Get a legit massage, picj a cute, young, old, MILF, whatever type, and see if you click enough for them to try to quietly upsell you to a handjob, blowjob, or supposedly job risking sex (nearly always BB as they don't have and can't easily dispose of a condom). My favorites for this are on Soi 8.
3. Get a blowjob at a blowjob bar, Wood, Kasalongs, Lolitas, others, and again this is a punt.
4. Get a soapy massage, best are Soi 22 and Soi 24, again a punt.
5. Sit in one of the bars at the start of Soi 4, aka Soi Nana late afternoon early evening and watch the girls come to work for Nana Plaza or freelance on the street, best location is Stumble Inn or Morning Night. Beware the milfy bargirls there, or even arrange a short time with one of them to clean the pipes for the evening.
Nights...
These can be quite interesting, and again can do double ups easily if you stay out late.
1. Soi Nana, the best of the gogos, third (top) floor is Billboards and Butterflies, quite an experience.
To me tho the prettiest and most playful these days is Rainbow 5 at back right corner of second floor
2. Soi Cowboy, has to be seen, but it is scam central for prices and girls that won't go with you.
Most bars that have stunners out front (coyotes) in pantyhose who are unavailable, are part of the string of half the bars that are owned by the "Arab".
They are pretty drink scam bars, buying two drinks at a time, so should be avoided.
Safe bars are Tilac, Baccarat, and my favorite AfterSkool for it's naughty corner voyeuristic blowjobs in the bar experience.
Crazy House is filled with stunning naked beauties, and yes, they will play, but they will also buy two drinks at a time, and push expensive short time.
3. Soi 7/1 and Soi 7 beer bars, massage, soapy/nuru and RedFern 3-somes, not much in the way of scams here, but you do need to navigate the ladyboys.
My favorites clearly RedFern for the experience and very easy on the eye PSE girls, Wood and Annies Soapy/Nuru for the service, not the looks tho.
4. Late night, like approaching midnight and after, hit the music bars, the many Hillary's (1/2/3/4/5) and similar, music, beers and freelancers.
5. I also quite like Patpong, but its not an easy area to navigate for the inexperienced (newbies), if you do venture there, the SYT's in Kings Castle 1/2/3 can be quite stunning and a less expensive experience than either Nana or Cowboy for nearby short time room takeout or overnight.
6. Last and not least, as i only just remembered it, take a walk through Thermae freelancer bar underneath Ruamchitt Hotel, its an eye opener.
A heady freelancer mix of part time ladies (who also have day jobs), as well as more experienced semi and full time pros.
It can be a hard place to leave without taking one home for short time, or even going to the hotel upstairs.
7. And of course all the afternoon options are also available at night.
Lastly, ThaiFriendly freelancers, Soi 4 and Soi Sukhumvit freelancers, plus FiwiFans/sideline girls, are also readily available...
These will be Thai, Lao, Khmer, Viet (yes), and African of all persuasions (big bodied and petite), as well as Russian/Slav options too...
Enjoy.
The choices are oh so many...
But, remember, play safe...
Only carry just enough cash, tuck it well away, and don't be conspicuous with it.
In your room, have and use a safe to lock away your valuables if you bring anyone back...
100% this, apart from a visit to Crazy House on Cowboy i'd stick to Nana.
Cowboy was definitely more full on drink hustling like Pattaya has become, i found most of the girls in Nana more sedate and as mentioned above Billboard had some top looking vag. Plenty of street meat to be had in the surrounds as well.
Sincerely doubt you're an idiot. iME, moving an account, Line, Wechat, to a new mobile, reinstalling, that seems to be a different experience than an initial install. I'll assume it's to prevent account hijacking. I know when my xfer of Wechat went south, I was locked out. Unlocking required two WeChat longtime members, who I'd frequently chatted with, to each send a code to unlock. Easily done IF you had WeChat; not so easy if you didn't and they were nowhere near. Luckily, I had SMS capability AND their actual mobile numbers.
Afternoons
6. Go for salt-tapping, Misaki Akasuri Previously Known as Sakura Asuri. You will NEVER feel cleaner (ISG FR'S).
7. Tulip (an institution). Cherry and Peach massages, both have websites, pictures accurate enough. Prices are INCLUSIVE for FS (ISG)
8. Lot of RnT MP's on soi 22 and soi 23, providers sitting outside. Laminated sheets are for massage only, extras negotiated inside. Odd number soi's on one side, even on the other. Main street references used as base for side soi's, ala Sukhumvit, soi 15.
Good pharmacy on Sukhumvit, between soi's 13 and 15, basically next door to Thermae, Southeast Pharmacy. No script needed for anything non-narcotic (just in case).
Nights...
Safe bars are Tilac, Soi Cowboy. Have a drink out on the terrace, watching the passing crowd (though, I guess these days, a lot of tourists and lookie-lous). Once upon a time, Tilac did have some lookers, 4 or 5 arm stage, girls shifting arms during their shift.
Patpong, but its not an easy area to navigate for the inexperienced (newbies). MTW, rugby scrum (ISG).
Foodland supermarkets for food/drink supplies.
Bring some Imodium. Food is safe, but for newbs... Can you eat spicy?
"My pet" - no spicy. "Pet nig noi" - little bit spicy. "Pet my mee pen ha" - spicy no problem.
For street touts: "my pie, cap" - I don't go, thanks. "My ow (first part of ouch), cap" - no thank you. Marks you as a resident, not a tourist; they leave you alone.
"ow ee, cap" - another, thanks, when you want another something, as in a drink. "check-bin, cap" - how to ask for the bill. If you're running a tab - chits put in a cup on your table, some bars are known to pad. Know the going price for drinks, lady-drinks, ask before ordering in each bar.
Greet everyone with "Sawwadee cap" (males use cap ending, females ca ending). "cap un cap" Thank you.
Thai is tonal, and unless you're familiar with tonal languages, you won't get the correct tone. Don't worry, Thais will figure it out.
Smile; keep your cool. Don't litter (moneymaker for the boys in brown).
Traffic is a bitch. BTS, MRT good way to get around, or motorbike taxis (keep your knees IN). Traffic will stop for pedestrians in crosswalks, but be careful. Ack the paused vehicle with a head dip. Watch out for motorbikes, they are everywhere.
Don't try and wai (gesture). You won't know how (very cultural). WHEN someone wai's you, give a small head nod. Never touch anyone, even kids, on the head (head is sacred). Never point you feet at someone - feet are dirty. Watch out for pickpockets on BTS, MRT.
Thai's don't use chopsticks - fork and spoon.
You're a guest in their country, act like it. Not every female is a working girl.
NEVER speak ill of the royal family, king, etc. BRUTAL LAWS. Be careful of criticizing anything (at least until you leave the country); critical reviews have engendered court cases.
Take the next flight to Saigon and stay at a hotel in Bui Vien Street. Much sexier and younger women there.
You have a treasure trove of information above. LINE app is the go however you get it.
All of the experiences in Thailand are absolutely tremendous
Three days?? Not enough.
Wow, so much gold information here. Thanks guys.
Miclop & 11Bravo - this is outstanding intel!
I've only ever been to Bangkok in transit for 24 hours and under each time. Your intel makes want to stay for a week or more!!
Roj,
There is so way much more than that in the Sukhumvit area locale alone that my guide is barely scratching the surface.
Bravo has fleshed it out a bit more with his knowledge and likes, but there is even way more.
Place like Annalisa, for PSE together with Annies and Tulip, plus more.
Then there's the dark side, Thai focused more so, like T-Ded.
Or the Japanese focused area of Soi Thaniya...
Not to forget, that just over two hours down the road is the hedonistic beacon of Pattaya...
I just came back from BKK. Here are some of my no BS and safe places to go to.
It is sex paradise with lots of option however it can be quite overwhelming due to the offerings available.
- Best place to get advise is from Singlemanforum (equiv to Syd99 forum for Bangkok).
- Best RnT - HoneyBunny (Accepts Credit Card).
- Best Blowjob only place - Secret Kiss (Only Cash) and VoVo (Accept Credit card and cash) - Young and hot girls.
Roughly $70 for 30-40 minute blowjob, 1 shot.
- Best FS - ThaiFriendly App (Easy as hell to find a freelancer especially if you're in Pattaya). Have the girl come to your hotel. No looking around, buying them drinks or chatting them up. Just straight to business.
Noteworthy mention - WoodBar Blowjob bar is good too. Some girls you find can deliver Throat Pie as they live for it. Don't expect stunners though.
Ill personally try to avoid Thermae Cafe and Gogo bars unless you live in BKK or there for longer (like a month). IMHO its a waste of time and money, especially if you're there for only 3 days.
You may have blue balls if you find the wrong girl to take back to your hotel with you.
Go there if you never been. Once is enough for an experience for me. Pick any girl from the waiting on the other side of the room there and take her right upstairs to the hotel if you like her and get her to book short time room for you. (You pay her, she will give to receptionist and they will give you key to a room)
Alot of 9/10 and 10/10. Its a mixed bag as you will not know what services the girls there will provide. Alot of them I heard are starfishes.
Some of the best advice I ever got, decades ago, from an experienced hand was DON'T be the kid in the candy store - "I want this, no, wait, I want that, no wait, that one, no, that one." Just pick one you like, has a good attitude, go enjoy. Return and pick another.
Now, if this is your ONLY trip to BKK in THIS lifetime... well, my condolences, and you have bigger problems than who to pick. But BKK isn't going anywhere. It changes, but, as the Thais say, "Same, same but different".
Everyone has their preferred forums. Mine is ISG, for longevity, both the forum's and mine. Has helped me in a number of climes.
Like SYD, or ANYWHERE, cash is king. I'll use a CC in Foodland, a shop in a major mall, but in P4P - NO thanks.
IME, those who forgo "looking around, chatting them up" are missing out on the fun. AND, it's how you separate the high risk/low risk of poor performance. Discussing price, menu, PAY AFTER BEFORE you depart increases your odds. Just like in an AMP lineup, look for the ones smiling, making eye contact; avoid the ones looking down at the floor or not smiling. ALWAYS pick on ATTITUDE with looks secondary (certainly someone you find attractive, but not necessarily perfect).
Yea, getting further afield, out of the Suk farang ghetto...
And, what hasn't been said here, there is so much more to Thailand than P4P. (Say WHAT?!? Blasphemy!).
Food - street vendors, food stalls, hole in the wall mom-n-pop restaurants...
Seeing the tourist sites. Yes, they're touristy, but, they're also something to see.
Sky Park, Central Silom - very impressive.
Shopping - go out to the weekend market Chatuchak (take the MRT, DON'T get off at Chatuchak PARK; off at the next stop, Kamphaeng Phet station - right inside the market, Section 26 (good for quality souvenirs, and La Rumba Cafe for some refreshments after several hours of seeing what's on offer). Section 8 for some good, cheap souvenirs (buy some silk tissue box covers - fold flat for easy carrying home, or place mats). Little Wings House for some great, unusual souvenirs (google is your friend). Yes, it is touristy, but you'll be rubbing shoulders with Thais. There are more real, local markets, but Chatuchak is an institution for a reason.
And just having some interactions with civilian Thais. The clerks at the bakery, the waitresses at your favorite lunch counter, a waitress (and possible owner) of your favorite ice cream shop, shopping for supplies in Foodland... One of my favorite memories is having forgotten my umbrella (idiot), caught in a downpour, trying to find some shelter under a telephone pole, a Thai walking out of an office with an umbrella (smart guy), motioning me over, I'm thinking I'll get some shelter in the lobby. No, he gives me the umbrella (very nice umbrella), telling me to return it "tomorrow". TIT.
I have to agree with Brother bravo, Bangkok and Thailand so much more than punting.
Too many days punting I actually find kinda boring, it's almost sensory overload (in Pattaya especially). Especially the bars (gogo and normal), the girls have a quota of drinks they need to earn every month in order to earn their salary, not making quota means deduction from salary. It's pretty rough and once you know the system take some of the fun away.
Don't forget to drink as many fresh coconuts as you can, and go see some live music at the Thai bars (the ones the Thais go to not the farang bars)!
Here, here, EXACTLY.
Salary deductions for shortfalls of ladydrinks and/or bar fines have been around for decades. Where I differentiate are those who work for ladydrinks (good banter), and those who just want without putting in any effort (though the latter makes it easy to say "my ow cap" and let them flit off, leaving the landing gate open for others).
For me, it's a combo: couple of days of punting, then a couple of days out and about sightseeing. Rinse and repeat.
I will also say this about the freelancers on Thai Friendly.
Be really careful. I've had some mixed experiences with freelancers. Some might ghost you even after a booking for whatever reason. You can register an account from here before you go and line it up, I find that's better actually - a few days before you fly, line up the booking. If you try to book on the day you may not even get a reply if they are booked out.
If you manage to get a firm booking, they will come to your hotel (almost always late tbh) but because they are freelancers they have NO STD TESTS. You must always dom up for both BJ and FS as unlike some of the reputable registered soapy places they have no need to do tests
I've also found all my Thai friendly bookings super transactional and always pump and go. They don't hang around and there's not really any connection, compared to having fun with girls at one of the bars and bringing her home with you.
Oh I will also say, make sure your hotel is guest friendly. Some hotels are definitely not, and you don't want to be left blue balled because you can't take a girl in. There are also some hotels who have a no ladyboy policy, which is good for those of us who aren't into that as they will take the ID of the guest and if it's a ladyboy will refuse entry. You have to register any guest who's coming to your room with reception.
Note I'm not saying I have anything against LBs or those who enjoy them, this is just a PSA for the OP.
