This is a +1 to the argument that monogamy is not natural because women and men are so different biologically, particularly when it comes to sexuality.
Judging from the number of years some of the posters on this thread have been married, I would guess their wives would be around or well pass the 40 year-old mark. At that age, and with the sudden disinterest in sex, it is likely that they are going through menopause.
Menopause literally shuts down a woman's ability and the urge to reproduce. Look at the list of effects: painful intercourse, decreased libido, problems reaching orgasm. Why would a woman want to even lift a finger for sex with all those problems that come with menopause?

On the other hand, men don't have this problem. We don't get less horny when we reach forty... in fact i think we get even hornier. The old-man-fucking-a-young-girl fetish comes to mind.
