watching the Group 1 race at Flemington just now, I can see why Russian Camelot is favourite for the Melbourne Cup.
My Saturday night mad multi.
NRL - Titans v Broncos
Titans -3 5/-46.5
NRL - Roosters v Knights
Roosters -14 5/-49.5
AFL - Giants v Demons
Giants to win 1-24
Odds - $19.44.
RC looks more like a Cox Plate horse to me. No reason why he can’t win both though!
Correction, just found out that Russian Camelot’s grand sire was Montjeu, who has already sired a Cup winner in Green Moon, plus two recent Sydney Cup winners and two Ascot Gold Cup (4,000 metre) so there should be no question he can run the trip.
53.5kg in both Cups, thats winnable weights. But if the Melbourne Cup is his ultimate mission, then I doubt he will run in Caulfield Cup risking a penalty if he wins, most likely will chart a WFA path in either the Underwood or Turnbull then the Cox Plate follows by the Cup?
These Northern Hemisphere breed 4 yr old doesn’t need a lot of racing , he won the SA Derby off 1 (1,600) run in 30 days !
He will be doing ok if he goes in with 1,600 (today) - Follow by either 1,800 or 2,000, then 2,040 and finally the Cup @ 3,200
