Cannot lie, been a gift giver all along. Many regulars through the years have got chocolates or flowers on the birthdays. Some get Christmas gifts but usually if I have one coming back. Always played the game under my rules. If they ask, I listen and it is usually a no. If I am happy with our time then I buy. Man those are sad stories and goes to show it's best to keep it professional and cut the feelings out of it. The SW might or might not be genuine, but the risk is high with this kind of industry...
