New shop owner asked me to help them unlock their WeChat? Not much of an idea here. I am guessing someone has reported them for inappropriate content? Quite likely another nearby shop?? Or a disgruntled customer?? A jaded employee??

If it's a new WeChat, I've heard that you have to have an existing WeChat member vouch for you. If it's an existing account, there is a process to unlock - something like start the process, message (say sms) someone you've Wechatted with, and have them use a code... been a long time since I've had to do that (old phone dead so couldn't do a simple xfer). No doubt, and without a doubt, AI involved. It is PRC after all. As I said, I had my account locked when I tried to sign-in on a new device without transferring "access" from my old device. Simple when old and new are functional, not so simple when the former is dead. Prevents someone from jacking your account.Quote:
