Thorium reactors are a long way off though, we can't just keep burning coal until they're ready.
And you really want to pay way more for your electricity with nuclear power? Dutton's not even serious about it, it's just a delay tactic and a distraction to keep supporting the big mining company donors and to make it look like they've actually got an energy policy.

Nuclear power defo gets my vote. Actually some of the stuff Dutton is selling makes a lot of sense. The 20% gas reservation for the east coast makes A LOT of sense.

I've always thought that Australia is the perfect place to use nuclear power, we were just sabotaged by irresponsible groups in the past like CANE who left us in such a disadvantaged position now. I hope they rot in hell, them and friends of the earth fucken hippies.

But still, the negatives far outweigh the positives. Dutton must not take power or we will all be in trouble.

See that's the problem with western democracies - too fucken soft, too fucken woke, too fucken spineless. Dictatorships like China, Russia, North Korea, Iran et al don't have those types woke problems - they just get on with it and do it regardless of whether nations get upset. What our politicians need, is to grow a set of fucken balls (so that rules out Penny Wong from the race).

Used to be a Labor voter but they're no longer for the working class .. C'mon $5 tax cut , no sign of the $275 power cut and borrowing to heavy spending with a billion to Ukraine , reminiscent of the Whitlam years.

Thought Dutton would be ok but Labor in another guise , still with the Paris Accord . I'm going One Nation even though they won't dominate, at least preferences will go to coalition and show that the 2 major parties are on the nose

Yeh I like the idea of nuclear power, but we just don’t have the expertise or existing industry for it. It will likely take a very long time for us to replace any significant part of the grid with nuclear. Not really sure how far Dutton has thought about it.

I just hope regardless of who wins they get to form majority government.

Of course the idea of nuclear weapons is supposed to be a deterrent, they're not supposed to be used because that would cause Mutual Assured Destruction. Interesting that the only country to ever use nuclear weapons is the US.

We should strategically build some large dams along the flood plains and solve the water issues then put the nuclear reactors nearby. Why not ask our largest trading partner aka the infrastructure giant to build everything. These mega projects can easily be funded by iron, coal, wine, lobster or natural gas.

Better still, if the government has the balls to cancel the AUKUS deal, we should have plenty of money to build everything we ever needed - as per Paul Keating.

I always knew we are a country of plenty, just never be able to name them all, until now - excellent works !

I think being a relatively small country (only in terms of populations............lol) but big in natural resources, we just have to play our cards right and be neutral in world politics, there is no reason why we can't be as rich and as prosperous as the tiny island nation of Singapore. Just follow their leads in gaining benefits from both sides.
