Yep, it would really suck to get this far and fall at the last hurdle.

Reviving the thread. We are now seeing spikes in cases in VIC and some unknown community transmission in NSW. I'm still trying to decide to go back to punting (ML) or to keep isolating due to this period of cases popping up again, especially with the recent protests.
Brothers, are you all back in full force? Or still waiting to see how the infections numbers go (and wait for our fav MLs to come back to work)?
I'm being pretty cautious. Mostly seeing my regular ML, who I know is meticulous and for the first time since COVID I tried a local shop on the weekend as I couldn't escape for long enough to see my regular. I was pleased to see my local check for temperatures, offered hand sanitiser to me as least 3 times and ML didn't tempt me too much! But I still managed to enjoy her services!
Was doing some rough numbers after watching the news last night. The latest Vic outbreak currently involves ~120-odd cases / day. Each ~10 cases has just one host of COVID so this transmission rate is over double the normal community transmission. You definitely don't want to be hanging out in big or small groups of strangers. It seems the Victorian family gatherings have been sharing food / kisses/ hugs or something to double the risk of transmission.
no, not that I've seen, at least.
I wonder if any VIC W/L or M/L are coming to NSW to work soon.
Yes, close proximity with anyone not living in your household poses the risk as not all of the population have been tested and so many don't have symptoms. All it takes is someone to infect an ML/WL, then it spreads very quickly. Hopefully we can protect our ML/WLs!
120 cases a day in Vic?
Where did you get that from?
Australia wide it is abut 30 a day and most of which are in Victoria. Take out the hotel quarantine cases and we are below 20. The 'source unknown' sits at just 24 for the last week across the whole of Oz.
So where do you get 120 a day?
How stupid are the people running this show ?
It took far too long for the 14 day Hotel quarantine to start and it has been very successful, however if you test positive during your 14 days in the hotel you are simply told to go home and self isolate ... WTF
That was the main reason for bringing in the Compulsery 14 day lock up. Those people who are flying into the country and testing positive should be kept in iso until they are clear. It's not rocket science.
Does "being tested" confer immunity to the virus?
I may sound like a wet blanket, but it has to be said. This whole message of "we've tested millions of people and that's how we beat the COVID", is just governments trying to bring calm to the general population. Australia are doing it, so were China, Korea, etc. It is dangerous and gives a false sense of security.
Just use common sense... Someone getting tested and being negative today could be infected tomorrow. I know it's all based on probability etc, but it just means that the whole idea of testing figures being a source of security is fake. That's the unfortunate truth!
Now we see the folly of this tactic showing in the "second waves" in China and Korea. Is it really a second wave, or did the first wave never finish?
I think pleck the doomsayer is back as tpol
But that's the definition of 2nd wave
This virus is difficult to totally eliminate given asymptomatic carriers and overseas returnees (per the Vic hotel security staff).
The 2nd wave is when you take your foot off the restrictions - allow family gatherings, protests, bars/ restaurants, but the virus is still there in the background, and then boom 10+ cases.
Nah, been around yonks as ALG mentioned.
I'm just a little worried that some Victorians may travel north and screw up NSW's progress with Covid and we need to go back to lockdown.
Although the last 3 months was an experience in self enlightment, I don't really want to go through it again.
I miss my friends, ml and wls !
Actually, I wouldn't mind if NSW closed it's borders to VIC.
Yeah, tpol was here before Pleck was born ! ;) ;) ;)
