Trump has been pretty badly pantsed because he failed to think ahead and he overestimated the bullying that 25% of world GDP could inflict on 75% of world GDP. If he wanted to go to war with China only and used US allies as leverage in that endeavour, perhaps he would have found support and success, or perhaps not given how long it takes for companies to change supply chains. But it is truly baffling to go to a trade war with the whole world, which is only sending countries into new partnerships, including with China.
Other countries have now seen first hand how effective strategic US Treasury sales is.
And just an idle thought, but every time he announces a "concession" he lets other countries know US weak spots which could be export tariffed if other countries want to strike back.
