Three people have been taken to the Villawood Detention Centre after police raided two illegal brothels in Canberra.
Officers and immigration officials searched two premises in Canberra's south on Thursday, where they say illegal brothels were operating.
Police were acting on information provided to the Crimestoppers website when they searched the properties at Lyons and Holder.
Officers seized $25,000 in stolen property during the searches.
A woman from the Lyons property has been summonsed to face court on charges relating to stolen property and running an illegal brothel.
Department of Immigration and Citizenship officials took three people into custody for breaching their visa conditions and they have since been moved to the Villawood Detention Centre.

Saturated market 'putting prostitutes at risk'
A report says that sex workers in Westminster are at greater risk of violence because of a fall in demand and an increase in those selling sex.
The study by Westminster Council shows the recession has led sex workers to cut their prices, accept more clients and take greater risks.
The police, the NHS, council workers and sex work projects contributed to the report.
It recommends increased training and joint-agency work.
The report says: "Saturation of the market has had the impact of increased competition, meaning some sex workers are now selling sex for less money and providing a wider range of services.

A Sydney police officer has told a court he secretly filmed himself having sex with women to prove himself to younger colleagues.
Senior Constable Marc David Osborn is facing three charges of filming a person engaged in a private act for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification.
The 42-year-old from Gladesville Police Station told Downing Centre Local Court today that he bought a clock with a hidden camera online in August last year, a week before the first offence.
He said he was working with officers in their 20s who would brag about their sexual relations.
Osborn said he was worried his colleagues did not believe him when he discussed his activities outside of work, so he played them the secretly filmed footage to show he was "one of the boys".
The court heard Osborn met the women through online dating sites.

Outside he told reporters Osborn exploited women while they were at their most vulnerable.
"If vulnerable women like this are then treated in this way by a man in a police uniform...," he said.
"People feel confident when dealing with police. They should feel confidence and trust when dealing with a police officer."
An internal police investigation is also underway into the activities of the officer.

A Melbourne court has heard a brothel worker offered the family of a man he killed $20,000 in hush money.
Abraham Papo, 28, was bludgeoned to death with a tyre lever outside Madam Leona's brothel in South Melbourne in 2009.
De Jun Zheng, 37, is on trial for murder.
The court heard Mr Papo mistakenly believed his Korean girlfriend was being made to work as a prostitute against her will.
The jury was told he went to the brothel demanding to know where she was, before he punched Zheng and fled the premises.
Zheng then allegedly ran after Mr Papo and beat him up to six times with a tyre lever as he sat in his car.
The prosecution told the court the next day Zheng offered $20,000 in hush money to Mr Papo's family.
Zheng maintains he acted in self-defence.

"A Canberra man who tricked a prostitute into having sex with him will argue in court that it technically was not rape.
It is alleged Akis Livas, 50, stuffed an envelope with fake money and used it to pay for a prostitute's services in 2010.
The woman did not realise she had been tricked until after she had had sex with him, when she opened the envelope and found only folded up paper and a card with a rose on it.
She reported the incident to police and Livas was charged with sexual intercourse without consent. He pleaded guilty to the charge in court three years ago.
But since then, and under the guidance of his lawyer Paul Edmonds, Livas has decided to fight the charge on the grounds that the woman did consent to the sex.
At the initial hearing, Mr Edmonds attempted to explain the argument by giving the example of a husband offering to buy his wife a fur coat in exchange for sex but then never making good on his promise.
He said that if every man who lied to get sex was guilty of rape, then Australia would need five times the number of prisons.
They will argue that a fraudulent misrepresentation is not within the legal scope of what Livas is alleged to have done.
Today in the ACT Supreme Court, Acting Chief Justice Richard Refshauge approved the application to reverse Livas's guilty plea.
Acting Chief Justice Refshauge said it was not the role of the Supreme Court to decide the merits of the argument at this early stage.
The matter will now return to the ACT Magistrates Court for argument.
Speaking outside court Mr Edmonds said Livas has now offered to pay the sex worker back and that he would plead guilty to a lesser charge of making off without payment."
