There are at least 5 bad scenarios.

SBs have been known to leave earrings behind that have fallen under the bed
You are assuming hotel cleaners clean rooms. Cleaners often do not clean under beds. That's a fact
A careless SB may want to visit you again in your hotel not realising you have your wife there. One scenario - reception rings you to say SB is downstairs and is beside herself because she is sure she left expensive earring in your hotel room. She will wait in the lobby until this is sorted out

Another scenario is of the reception people take a liking to your SB, and they ask you when you are checking out with your wife in earshot - "How many people stayed in your room? I saw your daughter a few days back, the one with really nice perfume, what brand was it?"
You will then find yourself in a particularly deep hole

I think you make some good points here about risk. To clarify

It's not sliding doors for me. She came over Tuesday and Thursday.
My partner came over Friday night. The room had been cleaned.
The hotel is massive, not a tiny guest house and staff change constantly.
I'm not flaunting my SB around in front of them. I'm just one of a few hundred coming in and out.
