India really carried by Bumrah with the bowling and carrying Kohli and Rohit as batting passengers as well.
Thought a few times we would snatch defeat from the jaws of victory but glad we got it done.
Giving Bumrah the Player of the Series award was very generous and charitable. It shoulda been Pat Cummins. Took wickets, made runs, captained very well, and always made runs or took wickets when it really mattered and turned the match.
There should also be an award for The Most Shit Player of the Series. That would go to McSweeney and every Indian player except for Bumrah
There was no way anyone but Bumrah was winning that, 32 wickets @ 13 is just elite. Patty Cummins was as good as he always is but Bumrah just looked like he was bowling on a different wicket to everyone (other than Boland at the SCG I guess). Not always a fan of Nick but when he is playing good tennis and not being a bad boy, it's great to watch.
and according to Wiki, he has won over USD$22 millions in career earnings plus endorsements, so won't be feeling sorry for his career ending pre-maturely, he should be set for life from here.
Just a quick wrap on Nick's tennis career, at 29, his highest ranking was 11, while he hasn't won any major and had only reached a single Grand Slam Final in the Wimbledon in 2022, he had beaten 5 former World No. 1 players in Nadal, Federer, Murray, Novak and Medvedev. So, it's fair to say, at his best, he can certainly match it with the best in the world.
So, do we turn our attention to Alex de Minaur now ? at 25 yr, Alex's highest ranking was 6, currently no. 8 so he has already surpassed Nick in ranking and sitting on USD$16M career earnings and still counting. One thing we can say about Alex is his hard working and playing very consistently, especially in 2024. Let's hope he does well in the AO in 25.
