Shop CCTV (Video) - WARNING !!

Yes, its hit the news again more recently, but no rnt/brothels in sydney I found to have knowing become porn sites (but that is no guarrantee).

One of my clients in Hong Kong had me check and re-secure his shop video systems. One of the systems had been live steaming via a hack site. He did have quite secure passwords for his external access, but to totally secure them, I had to remove ALL external access to all his video. I wont say how I give him remote access nowadays, its a bit of extra hassle but is definitely secured.

Its actually quite frightening how many systems are crackable, and already cracked, so whilst I was checking, locally (in HKG) I also checked some Sydney sites. Virtually every system I know of who had been owner installed was easily externally accessible. The vast majority of installed systems which are externally accessible by the owners are easily cracked.

Any shop you enter or even approach externally nowadays has a video system, with the vast majority externally accessible by the owners and being externally accessible has a very good chance of being cracked.

I was quite shocked at some of the things I found including hidden cameras in places where they just shouldn't be. Some of these sites are being continuously streamed without the owners knowing so even the workers probably don't know their rooms/activities are being monitored and fully visible.

Not surprised. Would be easy asf to access their stuff since none of these guys who work at reception know much at all about tech related scams.

Man - that's scary shit right there, 'tho I guess I shouldn't be surprised given the way things are these days...

Did you specifically find any Sydney shops video stream accessible while you were looking?

I do understand the security aspect in general terms. But we punters here are much more concerned about our activities.

It would be odd to start wearing hats and sunglasses as we enter shops ….

What are you going to do about this anyway? I don't think the shops give a shit. If you are worried about this type of thing then punting isn't for you. The risk is what makes it exciting.

I was fine (or better to say understood this was a real risk) with everything you wrote until this part...

I was told by a ML a shop in Sydney CBD has a camera up in 1 of the massage rooms... not sure if she was lying but she hated it at that shop

It’d be pretty bland viewing unless it’s in the room action. Watching people enter and leave is boring.

I'm wouldn't be surprised if you are the 'right' type of Chinese you can access a service, that ultimately links to the government. The deal i suspect is they fund your fledgling brothel/massage shop, and in exchange you provide them everyone's face that's at the door for indexing in some giant database, so should the day ever come where they need you to do something, they have some kind of leverage.

Generally you probably only need to worry about it if you're a political bigwig or famous.

Exactly. Regardless of where you go or what you are doing, someone is always watching.

And to be honest, if people see me exiting a brothel in the city, I could not give a shit. Most of those people that judge us punters are probably doing something themselves so who are they to judge. I'm getting old and the older I get, the less I care.

The biggest problem with those CCTV systems is that once you configure the system to be accessible externally (or publicly on the internet with the ports opened), the security can be easily breached by known flaws in the firmware or software. Generally the software/hardware firmware is hardly updated and can be exploited.

No security is guaranteed but if I was to install a CCTV system, I would use network switches or camera's from US, Taiwan or Euro based companies.

Showing a bit of security ignorance..

I'll give you a clue, just use a pi on the internal network to access and then remote in on a secured connection. you are then only locking down one machine for access to all. I get paranoid and force ssh. vpn, and locked ip access to name a few....

But I have found a number of smaller shops with actual in room cameras showing up. These have been spread over numerous locations in various states and towns, and not all in the capital cities.

2 found in Sydney it was confirmed that some the "treatment" rooms had hidden cameras. I wont mention the locations, but both shops have been closed down and the operators are off the streets.

it seems that the closer the surveillance of their cctv, the more interested certain federal departments get in the operators.
