Cause the sharkies can go back to back !
I bet you most NRL clubs hated the Origin periods:
Broncos got smashed by Warriors!
Roosters almost got a win at Canberra but should have won comfortably if not missing all the key players.
Sharks and Dogs were equally depleted and hence a very tight one point ball game thanks to some late late efforts from Captain Gallen. The Sharky just keep finding a way to win tight games, it's ugly but they still win them! If they finally click into top gear, they really can go back to back ?
Cause the sharkies can go back to back !
Wow, all you NSW punters must think that the Blues can win Game I tomorrow!
On TAB this morning. Qld is now $2.05 to win, $1.85 for +1.5, the Blues are slightly favour now !
Thank you for the generousity , I'll take that!
The wait is over, Game I is here tonight !
We will soon find out if the Maroons dominance will continue ??
The Blues is the slight favourite but in the Man of the Match market, only three players are in single figure:
Cameron Smith $6.50
Pearce $7.00
Cooper Cronk $8.00
Are the bookies telling us something here ?
3-0 whitewash for the Blues this year.
Queensland's rule will come to an end.
I like your optimism brother Rooter!!
Queensland may be vulnerable in game I without Thurston, but even if the Blues can win tonight, they won't win again this series when JT is back for his last two Origins!!
Next year or the year after when JT, Cronk and Cam Smith are all gone, that's a different story !
The Blues are too good tonight, no free punt this week then.
Well done NSW!
Yeap, As Gus once said, Origin is all about Queensland!
In the year 2000, game 3 at the Olympic Park, the Blues put 50 on the Maroons and it was sick to watch !
Then the baby Maroons won the opener in 2001, Blues level and game 2 and the legendary Alfi answered the SOS call from England to make a comeback in the decider and history were made!
2002 was a drawn series but Qld retained the Shield as they were the title holder !
Then NSW won three series in a row with Andrew Johns destroying the Maroons in game 3 of 2005! That was the last of the Blues dominance in Origin.
And talks of Origin is dead was circling!
In 2006, game three decider in Melbourne ?
The Blues were up by 14 early in the second half and the match and series looked gone and if NSW would have won 4 in a row which had never happened before , Origin may well be dead !
Then came the famous Queensland come back and come the hour, come the man, and no one was going to deny Darren Lockyer in 2006 who won the Origin series, won the Premiership for the Broncos and the Tri Nation for Australia as Captain .
Then the Maroons dynasty started !
Has all good things come to an end ? well, it's only one game so all you NSW fans just hold your horses ok ! And even if you win the series, that's only your second series win in 12 years !!
If we get JT and Billy Slater back for Sydney and call in a couple younger forwards , it will be a very different ball game!
Bring on game II!
PS. But I will concede, if the whole Blues team play like that again in game 2, they will be very hard to beat, the million dollar question is can they ?
Blues were more hungry and desperate to win.
Even with 10 minutes left and a comfortable lead they were defending like demons, stopping two certain tries.
It is wise not to compare eras, but this current Blues side has to be one of the best. All in their prime.
I can smell a changing of the guard, with due respect to a QLD dynasty that will be talked about for years to come.
Someone from the NRL Apps last night right after the match rated Fifita and Tedesco both 10/10! And Jarrad Hayne was not too far behind! This group of Blues certainly has a lot of superstar game breakers among them who could win the game with a moment of individual brilliance!
Things used to be only Sonny Bill, Sam Burgess, GI or Tamalolo can do at their best, when you get three of them in one team and they are all firing, scary stuff.
Not sure if Cam Smith, Cronk, Slater and JT still have much petrol left in their old legs! One more series ? Or is it already a losing battle ?
The Blues were too big, too fast and too strong last night, no sugar coating about it and the score line was a true reflection of the two teams.
But let not forget for 39 minutes in the first half, the Maroons were matching the Blues with 50/50 balls, the Blues were 18/18 and the Qld were 18/19!
The Pearce try at half time was a turning point, with the game so even and tight at the time, an 8 points lead at half was a mountain to climb! And the Blues came out firing in the second half, a short drop out was the wrong move then bang bang bang , 3 quick tries and game over !
Mind you, the score line could be easily a more respectable 22-16! If ONeil hasn't dropped the ball on his own line, Guerra spill the lolly while scoring and Tedesco's try saving tackle on Gillette!
But in the end, the Blues also defended very solidly even when the game was won, so good on them, they must be full of confidence now to wrap up the series in three weeks time at home !
The football codes are losing it !!
How on earth can we have a must win World Cup qualifier match playing on a Thursday night (which was probably scheduled 24 months ago and Not the stupid administration in this saga !) clashing with the AFL Grand Final rematch between the Swans and Western Bulldogs and then on the same evening, another Grand Final rematch between the Sharks and Melbourne Storm !!
I would have enjoyed all three matches if they are over a Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights!
Think about the big advertising dollars each code separately could have commanded on its stand alone night rather than sharing the same pot on the one night !!
And a GF rematch on a Thursday night ? Seriously??? All the disappointing Swans and Sharks fans who would have attended on a Saturday or Sunday game !!
WTF !!!
First post... can't wait for tomorrow night... Hope Slater and JT make a difference.... QLDer!!!
First post...
Can't wait for tomorrow night
Hope JT and Billy make a difference...
QLDer!
G day Benji. How s the broncs treating ya ?
Haha not bad Gal. Wishing you were in camp?
Well, I hope the people in Channel 9 are not all Blues supporters, the advertising saying of a Blues "Dynasty and Dominance" seems to be all too naive and pre-matured ??
After all, NSW had only won one game after losing 10 of the last 11 Series !!
I'm pretty confident if QLD win game II they will go on to win the decider in Suncorp to send JT and Cooper out a winner!
Queenslanders !!
