V8 is even older than watermelon cake. It first came out about 6 years ago. It started as vanilla version, there was a chocolate 'diesel' version and they also make other ones. There was a caramel flavour one last year. You can buy single service V8 cakes.
Watermelon cake is only instagram famous. Its OK but not really good. Zumbo cakes much better i think.

watermelon cake was phenomenon (it's still) because it's not too sweet, and its unique taste. (refreshing,,, isn't it) and it's pretty (instagram-able)

They can't copy Zumbo cakes because they are much more complicated and take a long time to make. Watermelon cake is simple in comparison. V8 has 8 different layers.
The V8 cake is not too sweet. I find Zumbo cakes are not as sweet as others but I guess it depends on which ones you eat. Just different tastes.
