Let’s drill deeper to that “end up with nothing towards the end of their careers” opinion:

Put it this way, a young lady came from China 5/6 years ago on a student visa. Studied English for one year before enrolling to Uni or TAFE.

She paid the full fees for overseas student which contributed greatly to our export and education system and subsidized our local students at the same time.

She worked hard as a ML and paid her own way through college. In between years, she sent money back home to her family and travelled back home every year during Lunar New Year holidays.

After she graduated, she returned home with not much savings to show for but you bet with her Aussie degree and 6 years of conversational English skills and living in a western country for many years, she will get a high pay job back home and live a comfortable life, both herself and her family.

So, in your book, did she end up with nothing? Not on mine though.

Just trying to say success can be measured in many different ways, many of the MLs from overseas worked hard in the industry to provide us punters with lustful services and pleasure, and I just hope that they all got what they were working towards for: money short or long term, education, visa/residency, family or whatever.
You used one example. And not a very good one in my opinion. That's like saying a WL who blows all her income on luxury handbags. Did she end up with nothing? You could say she ended up with a lot of handbags that might or might not be resold. But I wouldn't call that a successful way of managing your money.

Or a WL who blows all her money on travelling around the world. In the end she has no money but she has a lot of travelling experience. She still has no money.
