NZ gov supposedly has a policy where people can be stopped at customs if they have outstanding debts to the government. The Aus gov needs to get serious about tax avoidance of individuals, and could easily do so by stopping at customs all visa holders who have not finalised their taxation affairs, or at the very least impose a hefty fine for leaving with outstanding ATO matters.

MLs earn a CRAP LOAD more than $18000 a year. ML's who only get 3 customers a day for 3 days a week will earn about $15000 just from the shop let alone the tips. The average ML will earn $50K+ and the popular MLs are earning between $100K and $200K.
The tax free amount is only for student visa holders. Working holiday visa holders are subject to the new backpacker taxes so the ATO are SPECIFICALLY interested in them.
Still its not a lot of money.
If they earn 50k they pay about 8-10k in tax less deductibles. Backpackers pay 15% on the first 37k so no tax free threshold for them. They register the backpackers on the way in so I think they are already in the system, they know the cash they come in with, what they need to live on etc.
Say half the MLs are dodging tax in a store. Its not a great return for the effort.
Now if the store is not paying tax that's different. 10% GST adds up. ATO also takes GST very personally.
But still look at all the cash based services around - food vans for example would outnumber these stores and be just as likely not to pay enough tax.
Organised crime? Phht! Unlikely Asian women are going to get mixed up with bikies who deal drugs and use fear and intimidation as negotiating tools.
It's all politically motivated. Why do you think it was given to the media including footage of the bust? Great PR.

Don't think I've ever seen an ML that earns 100k or more, if so they have nothing to show for it.

They (the ATO) don't register backpackers on the way in.

Half the MLs dodging tax? you live in a dream world. I doubt half of them even lodge a tax return let alone declare their tips.

Asian women aren't getting involved with bikies? You really are naive. The 50 raids a year or so back were specifically aimed at bikie establishments and they were talking about how the bikies were recruiting asians in their home country to come here and work. The article stated something alone the lines of "girls were sleeping on the floor in the shop"

Never seen an ML earn more than $100K, you must only know rubbish MLs. The popular girls earn between 2000 and 4000 a week. Simple maths confirms how easy it is. $80 per session, 6 days a week 4 customers a day = 1920, and that is for only 4 customers at basic extras.

You have a lot to learn about MLs.

Normally a 1hr session is between $60-70 at a shop, then usually the ML will get about 50-80% of that. Giving avg basic tip and avging 4 customers per day yes I agree with you its a bit per week.

    Some facts re girls.
Most work a 3 day roster but many work at a second place for a day or 2.
A full shift is normally 12 hours
A busy shop will have 4/5 girls working
A quite shop will have 2
A busy shop wil have 30 to 40 customers a day
A quite shop can have as low as 2 to 4
A common split is 60/40 to the shop
A ml keeps all her tips
An average in a busy shop is around 6-8 customers for a shift
A few girls I no have done 10 in a day
Most girls are on student visas with limited work hours
An average tip range would be 50-150 per customer.
Popular girls in busy shops working 3 days would be around 100-150k

"Most girls are on student visas with limited work hours" Legally this is a fact, but reality is they work as many hours as they are told to as they are often more scared of their employer than DIMMI.

Given they are loosely classified as self employed, it would be interesting to see if DIMMI includes the time they spend in shop without a customer in the 20 hours of weekly work time permitted.

Ecchi agree with regards I don’t no of a single girl or shop that would be complying with the work hours. If the shop classes them as self employed then the business needs to submit paperwork regarding this. Again I don’t no of a single shop doing this.

Which shops? It would be interesting to see if they were all mentioned here. I don't think so.

Much more likely that bpage cracker locanto etc have ads that make it obvious.

Along with nearby shop owners and residents complaining.

So many other ways for police to find info. This forum really doesn't matter

I'm sure the relative authorities do monitor sites such as this. Why make things even a little bit easier for them. Also, don't forget about brothel owners. I'm sure they would read the sites as well, then complain about shops close by providing illegal services.

i think the real issue is that the licensed brothels complain. They have a heavy cost of compliance, licencing fees etc. The ML's dont pay this. SO the licensed brothel down the road gets the shits and reports the massage shop to the coppers. the coppers get pressure to do something as the brothel pays fees to the government.....

the other scenario is that some punters wife finds out where he has been and reports the massage shop for offering sexual services.

Haha.. Dont think second one is very likely. I think they would need a bit more than than somebodies pissed off mrs unless she has good evidence and is willing to drag the family through the courts. If i were hubby id opt for a kick up the arse and a promise not to do it again or at least not get caught again. 😢
