What an ANZAC Day of footy !

The Pies was long way in front looking like gonna win by a dozen goals, then the a Bombers fight back and in the end just 4 points short !

The Rooster cruises to a 14 point lead and on auto pilot then the Dragons came alive , two point ball game until the big Prop scored under the black dot in the final 5 min.

Things got even closer down at AAMI Park when the +18 points outsider NZ Warriors with no half and no full back Captain leading the Storms all the way until the final few minutes, Storm was lucky to get a penalty to level then a field goal hit the pole and went in to win by 1 point.

Great to see no one had given up and all put in 100%, especially the young Warriors !

I don’t mean to be bitter here but how convenient that a week after the Roosters beat the Storm in golden point that the Storm win via some penalties & a field goal. As for The Dragons good too see Ben Hunt losing the plot in pressure situations again.

Well, the timing couldn’t have been better for a clash between the Bunny of Wayne Bennett vs a Panther side Gouldless !

Will the Penrith side lift for Cleary who is now totally in charge of the football team or will master Wayne take the mountain men to the sword ?

When was the last time the Sydney Swans paying $2.90 against its cross town lil brother the GWS Giants ?

If the Swans is gonna to win a match for all ages, this is it, And Buddy Franklin to kick a bag of goals, please !

This is the part that hate about NRL and to a certain extend A league too. There is no consistency. One week you are a hero next week you are a dog. Good for watching sports, bad for punting.

Super League and European soccer in general much better....

You got to tip your hat off to the Sydney Roosters management for addressing the high cost of attending a NRL match these days, game day ticket, food and drinks etc, can cost a fortune for young and struggling families !!

This coming Saturday where the Rooster will play the West Tigers at the SCG and they have introduced a family package deal:

$80.00 for a family of 4, hot dog and bottle of water to all - how good is this?

Credit should be given where credit is due, hopefully other clubs will follow and make the NRL live matches more affordable, so that us NRL fans don't have to watch the game playing in empty stadiums and can only look in envy how on earth does the AFL attracting such big crowds all the times !!

ps. just putting things into a punting perspective, the min charge these day for a 30 min massage is $35/$40, you add $50 for the HE, now compare that to the Rooster's deal, thoughts ?

This is the most intriguing match of the season, just as well, as the struggling Broncos had suddenly found form last week, just in time to face it's former coach Benny !

And for the Bunnies, any hard feelings for the way Seibold left Redfern end of last season can all be played out on the field this Thursday.

    Who Will Win ??

ps. a few minor but also interesting sub pots too: Boyd vs his long time master and father figure Benny, Kodi playing for his future (now being linked to the NZ Warriors) ! Can't wait.

Another game of round that was under the radar a bit was Des Hasler now back at Brookvale and back facing the Bulldogs for the first time since he made an absolute mess of the Club’s salary cap and recruitment and back end payment! But no DCE?

Lots of Origin talks on the radio this morning: taking the callers polls on who will captain the Maroons ? And the NSW halves ?

DCE seems to be the front runner then Gillette and Matt Scott, too bad Friends is injured otherwise he should get the C ! And the a big article on the Tele calling Cameron Smith to come back and lead for one more series ! Wouldn’t that be nice ?

On the NSW halves , the Panthers pairs are struggling at the moment and while they are the incumbent, they were there partly due to their club combination but that’s going South at the moment !

Talking about south and club combination- surely Adam Reynolds and Connor Watson must be seriously considered and you throw in Cook in the 9, that’s your spine !

Adding another Roosters club trio of Tedesco, Mitchell and Cordner on the left side, they can build the rest of the team around them, NSW looking very hard to beat again this year !

So, Smith or no Smith ??

I haven’t read that Tele article yet but I will come coffee time, but I think in his heart, Smith probably owe it to the fans and himself to have one more series, afterall, he holds most of the winning records , no ? And most importantly, he announced his retirement before the Origin I last year and never had a proper farewell which every and the Game deserves!

C’mon Smity , do an Alfie and win one more for the Queenslanders !

Decided not to bet today... Still like Portland but their lack of big guy concerns me. Kanter is injured as well.
