None really. I have it because I have a lot of Chinese friends so this is easiest to communicate with. Also for those with partners you needn't worry about being caught on wechat by their friends, colleagues etc, it's a legit social media as opposed to a straight out hook up app.

100%. There was a little phase there where it seemed there was a plague of scammers posing as wl's. Think wechat made it much harder for them somehow. There was also a seemingly never-ending line of people posing as hot girls spruiking investing in bitcoin, gold etc.
