I see. Problem is that America is not in a position to produce a lot of products that have tariffs on them. They can’t just instantly produce industries to do that. He’s cunning and very self interested but that doesn’t mean he’s not an idiot.

That’s assuming he cares about the American economy and the American people. The tariffs are definitely an idiotic move, but I don’t think he cares. As you say he’s more interested in lining his pockets and those of other elites that he can benefit from. He’s thrown off the western democratic ideals and gone back to creating extractive institutions…
