Victorian police have recently passed laws to combat the use of machetes primarily used by African youths...the crime is out of control there. Luckily I own my properties so I am mortgage free but people are really struggling after 12 interest rate increases...I have friends that have had to sell up as they cannot afford them anymore, and as a result have to rent, and have to battle with hundreds of others just to rent a place to live...many in the qeues are recent arrival immigrants. BTW I have not mentioned the Middle Eastern gangs burning down tobacco shops who refuse to stock their brands of cigs. How about the record numbers iof small businesses , and large building companies that have gone bust in the lastv3 years.

Dutton has really fucked this up. Bad decisions and worse judgement. Once he aligned with Fat Gina and Trump he was gone. People aren’t stupid. Regardless of the back peddling away from these influences the damage was done. It didn’t help that the LNP has a very very ordinary pool of talent. People like Clare and Chalmers tore their opposites a new one every time they tried to engage. Interesting to see if Dutton holds his seat but he may wander off into the sunset in any case.
Did he fuck it up or did he actually want the job? I've been following him through out the campaign and he just gives me the impression that he doesn't really want the job. It feels to me like his true passion in life is to "get ahead", make more money / wealth for himself and his family. Nothing wrong with it, but being a PM doesn't seem to align with this goal, especially when his strategy for reaching this goal involves flipping houses. It is completely at odds with the most pressing problem that the future PM has to attempt to fix.
Think he wanted the job with a fiery passion or at least his powerful friends were depending on him. The nuclear ploy was just a furphy to keep his friends mining interests going for 20 or more years. After which it wouldn’t matter as they’d have profited and probably be dead by then. He might very well have time now to spend his money and build stuff to make more.
