Case 1:

Have I ever loaned a WG money? Yes, she was a regular and had a compelling reason which I believed as I knew her. I loaned her $2K AUD.
Did she pay it back? She wanted to work it off weekly but I told her she needed a cash flow, so just save and pay it back lump sum. She did, New Year's Eve (clean slate for the New Year, typical).

Case 2:

Have I ever had a civilian ask me for a loan? Yes, store clerk who I chatted with every time while checking out. Said she'd be my special friend if I'd just loan her $5K. Declined. No chatting for the following month, then she was gone (home).

Moral of the stories:
1. Use some common sense (as Paison says, seems to be sorely lacking in some).

2. Don't loan money you can't afford to lose to anyone.

3. With the providers, as I've often said, you treat her like an orifice, she'll be an orifice (and chances are you'll be viewed as an ATM). Treat her like a person, she'll be a person, just like any other person (maybe Case 1, maybe Case 2; see Moral #1).
