The worst part is not knowing what they look like, yes they have photos but as you said they are either fake, heavily filtered or the worst possible quality imaginable.
You msg the manager and they tell you names and you ask for a pic/photo and they get annoyed or refuse to show. So you have to raw dog it, shop up, meet them in person and they are usually sub par.
I remember once going to a place and the lady was short, gaunt no meat, ass, boobs or frame at all, I was like I'm sorry may I please see the other worker, who came out and she was even skinnier (I don't mind petite but I mean ribcage showing thin is not my thing) I politely passed and walked out. A 40min round trip wasted because they didn't want to send pics.

I don't mind going in near blind, as long as I have something - even a verbal on age/dress size/tatts gives me something to hope for! Good photos clearly are a plus, but pretty rare. They just don't 'need' to, and I think that's the problem.
None of these spaces they rent their massage shops out of have high expenses to maintain. They are avoiding taxes as I assume none of them are being honest with their earnings. And even the laziest shops still probably get more men visiting than you think.
Sure they'd probably make more money if they put in effort and had the drive to grow their customer base, but if they had that kind of high work ethic, they probably wouldn't be working at a rub n tug.
They probably get by just fine doing the absolute minimum.
