most cases of the common STIs have no symptoms. Most transmission involves acquiring the infection from someone with no symptoms. So, not seeing symptoms and thinking you are safe is wrong. Also if symptoms do occur, it can be months after you acquired the infection, so blaming the last girl you saw is often wrong. In other words, all because A follows B doesn't mean A caused B - that is the causation fallacy.
