Will closing the Strait of Hormuz close your access to the Strait of Horpuss

I'm already cutting down on punting as NHJ now gone up to $70. Always being upsold to CBJ 2pp.

Now petrol is $50 a week more. Rates just went up. All thanks to some moron who started a war benefiting only 1 country.

Now will the ML's feel the downturn? I'm even less likely to punt when i think about what else i need to be spending on

Will punting go into recession? Will ML proceed come down?

For mine it's a definite yes i will spend less

    The Straight of Hot-Puss

The only think that may hinder me is the availability of high octane fuel for my ride. If 98 goes that I may as well piss in my fuel tank cos it won’t take anything else. And I sure as hell ain’t gonna pay for Uber to get me there.

I’ve been known to make my way to whorehouses in Sydney riding a pushbike in pouring downfalls at midnight. As well as walk for 1hr to nearest brothels.

So no, I don’t think it will. I fucken hope.

Australia only has roughly 30 days supply of oil.
If things get worse, expect petrol prices to keep going up.
This might be another WFH year.

Thread: Is the Iran conflict specifically fuel issue effecting your punting ?

10-03-2026 Currently I*m in regional NSW and made it through the bottleneck pass at Mount Victoria on the (not so) Great Western Highway last Friday before both directions were closed off altogether. I had planned a couple of sessions at various locations around the region ( yep , I*m back in form after a bit of a slump and a break ) HOWEVER with the uncertainty of fuel supplies in regional areas .. diesel definitetly out of stock in most servos , I*m a bit reluctant to drive and now considering public transport , buses and trains , which in practical terms limits me to larger centres for convenience. Just wondering what effects fellow punters are having , especially in the city let alone outside the metropolitan area

If the worst case scenario really comes to pass, we're going to struggle to put food on the table let alone go for a punt.

People who've lived through the oil crisis in the 70s can tell you how bad it was. Let's hope that after all these years, we would've added a lot more non-middle eastern oil producers to make it not as bad as back then.

In retrospect, this whole shitshow makes Thomas Matthew Crooks look like a Messiah from the future with a holy mission to save mankind. Unfortunately he missed!

You blokes are getting fucken soft and all doom and gloom over nothin'. We’ve copped way worse and still managed to crawl out the other side alive, kicking, and somehow with still enough money for a punt. Two world wars, Vietnam, Korean, Cuban missile crisis, Chernobyl melt down, the war on terror, the “where are the WMDs" crisis, Desert Storm, AIDS, the Y2K bug that was meant to delete civilisation, 911, the 2012 “end of the world” cataclysmic events, global financial crisis, tsunamis, floods, bushfires, earthquakes, pestilences, plagues, Covid, the great toilet paper crisis, Albo becomes PM….and now we’re meant to fucken crumble over a fuel crisis? WTF!

Agree. When people start complaining they might have to take PUBLIC ("the horror, the horror") transportation (share my space with unwashed masses), might have to walk far (across the street, 20 meters uphill) from the bus stop to the shop, might have to cut back on the prime beef (and I'm not referring to the providers) - forgetting or not knowing what it's like to be a poor student (rice+beans, ramen)... Of course, punting is a luxury that should be one of the first things to cut back on, or forgo, but ... Life's a bitch; then you die.

You want to put it in perspective? Talk to a PRC. That's ingrained across generations: occupied by a brutal foreign power (OK, "Indigenous Australians", your exception is noted), Cultural Revolution, Tiananmen Square, be a Uyghur, etc., etc. Or, just travel in the 3rd world... Not in the 5 star hotels, guided tours, but out amongst the locals... And you don't even have to go 3rd world. Holiday in Ukraine... "Incoming..."
Moving from weekly to monthly punt, or skipping a year, put it in perspective. They ain't coming thru the wire...

Shitty events and suffering in the past doesn't mean you can't hope for a better present and future and expect our leaders to do better.
